We need a ministry for coastal communities. These areas are completely isolated, I was watching a video on how rough the roads are and if it rains they will be cut off from the interior for months. Guardafui is especially affected by this. Having little oversight of these regions is bad cause they have the most economic potential, it is the area with the largest concentration of fishes on the Horn of Africa.

@sincity

Isn't Puntland building roads connecting those towns to the main road?
Only Garacad but the rest of the coast is abandoned. Since mountains lie in between it will be more expensive to construct roads and bridges.

In truth, unless some great wealth is found those areas won't be developed however there should be an effort to create trades there from fishing and connect those towns together so they can have their own economy.

I remember my dad informing us he will take us to our grandfathers grave in Qandala while we were in Bossaso over the weekend, the town is only 40 Miles away on the east of the Bossaos but it takes two days by a car while it only takes less than an hour by a speedboat.

Dad didnt want to hire us a speedboat and wanted to drive there by himslef and thought it was more fun going through all these towns and villages which was something most of us didn't want to through,we had to beg our mom to cancel the trip and not make us go through all this for a grave visit.

The reason PL dont want build roads to far east Bari and the horn is because those reigons will not generate enough revenue for the government and will take forever to collect any substantial taxes in these small fishing towns far from each other.

The region is also mountainous region and of course it Will cost a fortune not to mention the road will require tunnels and blowing hundrds of mountains to make this happen,they should just set up a public or a private commercial shuttle boat instead until we can afford a road.

Your words are right, but recently Deni Government change this view because of fish marked demand. Those areas brought expensive type of fish and sell in bossaso fish market.

They add yearly income to PL government. As I hear from the previous marine minster in PL TV program.
