What a twist LOL

It's even banned on this site. Weird, wallahi. It’s not a derogatory term any more than timo jileec—it literally means the opposite and simply describes a hair texture more common among "pure" SSA people, just as Indians tend to have straight to wavy hair more often than we do, despite sometimes having a similar complexion. But yeah, some Somalis use it negatively due to their racist views toward other Africans, which has distorted its meaning to some non-Somalis in parts like the UK as something akin to the n-word. The real equivalent of that in our culture, though, is Adoon which literally means slave.

UK somalis made it a slur. I didn't even know what J***** was until I started interacting with Somali TikTok. Never heard that word irl.

I've even seen these mfs hop on TikTok lives and call random black people J*****.

Explaining to none somalis that J***** isn't a slur is pointless since we have a bunch of mfs using it in a derogatory way.
It’s not just UK Somalis. It’s literally UK Somalis and young fob Somalis who migrated to the west. The fobs who learned English are literally 10x worse than the UK ones. But 90% of the time it’s both of them.

The word j*reer itself seriously just means afro-textured hair. Comparing it to n*gger is ridiculous. No one uses the n word in day to day normal English conversation to describe things but people will regularly use "timo j*reer" in a normal Somali conversation to describe even a Somali's hair texture. It's been morphed into something derogatory and a stand-in for Adoon for sure because of Somalis' attitude toward j-folks and the fact it's seen as a little too far and racist to use Adoon. They adopted the J word in the first place as a sneakier say of just saying Adoon.

And yes, I've definitely seen lots of people even on this site use Madow in a manner where I can just tell they want to say Adoon or the more sneaky J word. Don't play dumb now.
