I remember reading a hadith about a boy having parts of his hair shaved and it was referred to as a disfigurement. Might've been a weird tradition.

I believe it's disputed whether fades and other standard haircuts nowadays are the same thing.
Might be referring to mohawks where parts of your head are completely bald in odd ways.

Probably disliked rather than being haram. Don't quote me though, I'll research it later.

Kids born on or around 2000 have it very easy.

Back in my day, the only option we had was level 1 or level 2. Fades were only allowed during Eid or weddings.

Mushroom cuts are haram so that was never an option.

He is pretty religious fam. He told me how he doesn’t get certain hairstyles cause he was taught that some were haram. I told him to get that basic haircut all Arab dudes get but he said the fade is haram.

He is planning on going bald.

@Jerome in the house Fam since I am a Sheikh I can help you tell which haircuts are haram for men.

First off it is haram to cut the hair different lengths from the middle and sides.

Although it's not that haram you can still get fade haircuts. I regularly get a fade cut for occasions (events).

The most haram haircut is the Al Qaza in the Hadith. Cutting your hair uneven is like that kind of the fire worshipers.

Tapers are also not haram in the Islam community. I have been getting tapers and it's tolerable to get.

But I would advise not to get a Mohawk it's very haram.

So in conclusion you can get fade cuts and tapers as hairstyles.
