What values do Somalis have?

Xeer, entrepreneurial, piety

Read up "Law of the Somalis" by Michael Van notten, you'll be amazed how advanced and ahead of the times the Xeer system is.

Look at our entrepreneurial success across the continent and in Asia. Look at how we mobilised and built so much in Minnesota in such a short space of time.

Best of all: There was a poll which found Somalis to be the most religious group/nation in the world. We are known for preserving and being masters of the Qur'an Alhamdullilah. Somali star on the flag both symbolises the 5 colonial regions uniting and also the 5 pillars of Islam, there are exactly 114 cities in Somaliweyn, reflecting 114 chapters of the Qur'an. We are intimately tied to Islam, we are an ethnoreligious group. That alone makes us stand out.

Somalia right now needs soft power so badly, that fact we are still holding the "failed state" moniker even after 12 years of clearly having a functioning (albeit immature) state. The diaspora and the locals have internalised Somalia as perpetually being in a state of collapse, so I am not surprising outsiders think that about us.

I'm actually in the process of producing a project based on this: Somalia's values: based on the excellence of Xeer system, Somalia & Bitcoin being a match made in heaven, our very nature making us the original and ultimate nomadic capitalists, where ever we go we become entrepreneurs and successful at it - we in part is due to our nomadic nature and also our ability to mobilise easily using our clan system.
