You need connections and I don't recommend going alone. Many places are peaceful but there is no rule of law.

You feel a sense of belonging. It’s kind of weird but no one feels like a stranger to you nor are you treated like one.

It takes some getting used the first week or so but after that you start appreciating the sense of belonging where you understand everyone and don't feel out of place. Even better if you visit the countryside and appreciate the beauty of the country

I'm a man, it's a toss up between the shorts, braided hair and my broken af-somali.

They only starred at me while in Hargeisa but not in my hometown village I only wore a macawiis and shaved my head after.
