What's bad with being a Somali cop in the West ?

I don't see anything wrong with Somali police officers especially in the US, Canada, UK and other places where there's a significant Somali community. The Somali officers can patrol their communities easier and keep the streets safe. Somalis should never join the military, i agree but being a cop is fine.

this stigma will likely go away soon as BLM is a dead movement now. there's already plently of somali cops in the US and Canada. I always found it stupid to discourage somalis from becoming police officers or from joining the military.

Especially now that I've been active on Somalispot. We've spoken numerous times about how a certain part of our community grew up with bad parenting and had no proper guidance in life. Becoming a police officer or joining the military would help a lot of these people break into the middle class.

I literally know Madows and Hispanics that broke into the middle class with the help of the military. They all worked in jobs related to IT, cyber security, health care, and trade work. You can literally become an air traffic controller, respiratory therapist, radiology tech, and etc with the military.

There's a bunch of Somali men that bring up wanting to break into tech. Specifically into cyber security. When it comes to cyber security, the companies that pay the most are government contractors. With a security clearance and work experience you can earn 200k+. A lot of cyber guys coming out of the military can easily get 6 figure job opportunities.

In regards to police work, a lot of cities and suburbs pay police officers pretty well. You can earn on avg 80-100k depending on the area you live in. If your worried about dealing with crazy shit in the city than you can easily find a suburb with less action.

That somali man who got attacked for working in lockheed martin infuriated me. He literally joined a somali organisation (somalisintech) with the aim of helping his fellow somalis break into Cybersecurity. He was treated with such disdain. As for the Somali guy, he was literally annoying Mahad. Mahad gave him so many chances, but he had to do something about it because what that Somali did, he would never have gotten away with it with any non-Somali cop. And the girlfriend thing happened two years ago, and he's still a cop.


They probably chill with their Cadan friends to get comfortable so they don’t get treated like an outsider at work.

I cannot speak for how things are in mainland Europe because i don't have enough information on Somalis cops over there.

But in North America and UK from what i seen and read, it stems from mistrust and for good reason because they are often insanely corrupt institutions where they recruit members from minority religious and ethnic communities to act as informants, spies, to ensnare, trap , frame people from those communities . Basically participate in ethnic/religious profiling.
