What's it like living in a dark skinned Somali family?

I used to think all Somalis were light like my family/cousins, but I realized most Somalis are actually madow. My whole family is very light skinned, most of my cousins on my dads side and moms side are light skinned and pretty, all our Somali family friends are mostly light skinned and good looking. We are all isaaqs tho, Northern Somalis. I used to think all Somalis were like us, but they're not lol. This is why I believe Isaaqs are generally lighter than other Somalis. But what's it like being a madow Somali? For men it's normal I guess, but it must be hard for the women.

light skin and pretty...light skin and good looking? Don't breed please..for the sake of humanity do not!
I said Light skin AND pretty...does that mean they're pretty because they are light?
The "and" in between demonstrates that they have those two distinct characteristics, separate from each other. Please don't put words in my mouth.

Who are you trying to fool? It's clear that you associate being light-skinned with prettiness. Which is why you mentioned light-skinned and pretty or good looking together. In your mind, the two go together, because if it wasn't so, why would you ask/assume that madow Somali women have it tough? Hmm..must be because they're ugly huh? Madow is ugly in your head..that's the logical conclusion any person reading this thread will arrive at. It's laughable that you say you've only recently seen madow somalis and that there are no madow Somalis in your family. Miss me with that BS.

Most beautiful somali girl I ever met was dark skin, honestly people would stop in the streets just to compliment her, even children were dazzled. She's also very shy and humble as well. Yartaas mashAllah she's like a work of art.:jgjrrmx:

Kuwa cad as well can be very pretty as well

I notice though my waqooyi family ( my personal exp, not stereotyping) have a fascination with a light skin aesthetic, moreso than my dads side who is entirely from the south.

@Xalimo plz respond to my pm

You should calm down , she is a troll. She got banned and came back posting the same rubbish. Don't give her the satisfaction.

Every skin hue is equally beautiful.

You want to know what it's like being dark skinned and Somali? What do you think it's like? Do you imagine life to be harder?
Yes, I honestly do. Every society/culture believes lighter skin is more attractive, so i'd have to assume they live a harder life than light skin Somalis. Even South Somalis give their light skin daughter nicknames like "Cadey".

Why is this kid always telling me to calm down horta? lol...war aan ka neefsado. This is how I talk dear...I'm xaliimo qeeyliiso..

Anyway, I don't understand when this phenomenon with light-skin started..Somalis always considered dark skin, cirid madow, iyo kub kuusan to be beautiful in women,

That's not true though. Light skinned ugly people are everywhere and I've never met a woman who never married because she was dark skinned. We're not like India or the Caribbean who are stuck in skin shades. One thing I love about Somalis is that we're above shadeism iyo ceebtaas. A white person is considered low caste in Somalia and being mixed race isn't something to brag about either. Everyone is equal as long as their clan is a major one and that's the only social hierarchy problem we have.

Don't put words in my mouth. I have seen so many beautiful dark skinned Somali women. Somali society believes lighter skin is more attractive, not me. Of course I have seen madow Somalis all my life, but not many, because I never grew up with Somalis, other than my family/cousins. There's no Somali family in my neighborhood, other than our Isaaq family friend, who are light skinned. There was very few Somalis in my school growing up.
So the only Somalis I knew were my family of course, my cousins and our family friends. They were mostly light skinned. So I wasn't used to seeing madow Somalis.

I think the nickname Cadey means someone who's smiley and cheerful
