I've said this years ago, but anything West of Winston Churchill, North of Hwy 7, and East of Meadowvale and you should be good. Just be prepared for long commutes and waking up very early in the morning.

Montreal is mainly Djiboutians but Ottawa is mixed with all somalis
Ottawa has a huge Somali community that doesn’t have a bad rep imo. They basically the brum Somalis of Canada 
Edmonton is just a shithole tbh.
Maybe 80% of Somalis live in the GTA.
The other 20% live in Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal (in that order).
Crime is not an issue anywhere but "Somali crime" is an issue in Toronto proper and Edmonton.

It's mixed and most live in Toronto proper anyway. Its hard to tell if Darod or Hawiye are the largest. I don't think there's a majority clan, just a plurality. Scarborough is majority Isaaq though.
It's easier to tell in other cities though.
Vancouver is MJ, Edmonton is Ogaden and Sheikhaal, Calgary is Isaaq, Ottawa is a four-way tie of Isa and Gadabursi and MJ and Habar Awal (but Djiboutians are the biggest block with Isa and Gadabursi and some HA), Montreal is Isa.

how is the job market in ottowa, isn't just a political capital rather than an economic one, you just mentioned some students left for minnesota
It's mostly federal government jobs but also has a large tech sector. Economy is good even now during covid. Some naturally leave for school or other opportunities. There is only 1 medical school in the city and it's competitive which is why some left.
