We are doing quite well if you ask me, but the difference between us and other Africans is that Somalis are refugees and other Africans are immigrants. If you compare Somalis to Iraqis you'll see that we are doing better than them. When the Jewish, Italian, and Irish refugees first arrived, they had their own gangs and were known as vermin. For refugees, Somalis are doing quite well, imho. We shouldn't be comparing ourselves to Nigerian, Chinese, and Indian immigrants. You must learn the difference between refugee and immigrant.

I understand where you're coming from, but throughout history, first-generation refugees have a difficult time assimilating into their host culture, but their kids will do better than them and their grandchildren will do better than their sons and daughters due to accumulating generational wealth.

I think Garvey was from the Caribbean.He had separatist ideals much like early Malcolm did.

His movement gained traction in the 20's or maybe 30's? Either way,he was ousted like many back then & his flock went down with him.

He's the face of the back to Africa movement in the west,& in many ways a founder of modern pan africanism.
