I saw a video of a Somali chick on my TL where some Oromo's were claiming she was a Somali and she had to do a video in Somali saying she was Somali. God forbid pretty girls come from our country.

They are sooo weird it's not just them the habeshas stalk us as well and fill comment sections trynna claim any lightskinned or even good looking somali it's pathetic wallahi and they have to clarify repeatedly

I would like to add that Somalis have been hating each other and fighting each other for God knows how long. Somalia is a very divided place, with many different states and internet states. Other Blacks, sometimes dozens of tribes in one country, live harmoniously with one another and build institutions together and trust each other. Somalis, the same ethnic group and same Shafii Islam religion, divide themselves in many different pieces and distrust their reer abti down the road. This just proves you guys are 100% the problem. Everyone knows its true. Blacks will fight and make up but Somali Blacks is tat for tat forever.

They don’t like the fact that we look different and even when the Somali phenotype is mentioned they start talking shit about pirates and refugees as of they represent the ‘true Somalis’ . For example this Somali girl has a very common look amongst our people and they will accuse you of cherry picking.

Yeah that’s mariin, I have the same skintone. Somalis range from light to dark but I would say vast majority have soft hair and slim noses.

Adding on to camera issues its also harder to distinguish in an indoor light like warm light because of reduced perceived dynamic range. The best way to capture mariin colour is in natural outdoor light

Someone can take a photo of a somali indoors on a bad camera and they would look lightskin and ajaanib in a colder light environment who may well be lighter skinned than somalis see the photo looking lighter than them and assume something weird is going on Especially if they met a somali in real life and saw the actual skin colour. then they make conspiracy theories i guess

This can be remedied with increased real life interaction

Being obsessed with phenotypes or trying to put the whole population under one look is weird. But having the "small nose" is the most common feature in Somalis than light skin or loose hair.

The high school I went to all the Somali girls covered their hair except two girls who were mixed, anyway the madow girls thought the reason Somali girls were covering their hair was because they were ashamed of their hair lol this was a small town, anyway the Somali girls had enough and showed their hair in class.

Well Somalis look the way they do because of phenotype and features rather than complexion. Complexion has never been a currency for Somalis, you have various complexion from light to dark but all unison in the distinct and single Somali ethnicity that can be picked out regardless of one's complexion making the entire complexion game you see with other Africans completely obsolete to Somalis.

This clip is a perfect example. This adeer is clearly darkskin but he's phenotype and features make him unequivocally Somali making the complexion conversation dysfunctional in this context since he is unambiguously Somali

But if there's one thing that I agree on, it's that the Somali look varies insanely between the diaspora and in the actual country. Lowkey, if we are talking about Somalis in Somalia, then yeah, they all look similar as f*ck. But generally, most Somalis, in my opinion, have medium light to dark brown skin, narrow jaws, high cheekbones, and deep-set, almond-shaped eyes. But again, these can vary. Regarding the kinky and loose hair dispute, it's not a lie at all that darker Somalis tend to have looser hair. I notice that light-skinned Somalis tend to have kinkier hair. It's kind of interesting because most people would presume that light-skinned people would have kinkier hair.

It's literally all because of the negative stereotypes lmao. I'm not even going to lie or even be biased, but I genuinely think that Somalis look better than Ethiopians on average. The average Ethiopian is bug-eyed -- and that specific feature looks so awkward with the other standard 'horner features' that they may have: such as higher cheekbones, or an elongated face. Meanwhile, Somalis have almond-shaped eyes that fit better and give them better harmony alongside the standard high cheekbones, etc. We lowkey struggle with the mouth area, though, but that's probably because of the low-fat comp. But overall, I think we'd look better if the other things were addressed, such as the hairline, or mouth area, or even the hairstyle.

This is so true.Our own families have people who look vastly different from each other.
