Who seeks to preserve and revive the Somali people with me?

We need to think beyond Somalia. Just like a group of people that is very unpopular. We live in the west, this doesnt mean we should throw away our identity, neglect learning our language and marry out when the opportunity arises.

Also I dont like the idea of being superfixed on Somalia. We Somalis must detach ourselves from Somalia. Somalia is important, but in case everything goes south, we must prepare and think of how we can preserve our ethnicity.

Some ideas I have that could help us preserve our ethnicity.

1. Obviously marriage. Every individual should make it his goal to marry another Somali.
2. A Somali after school or some kind of online education where we can learn the language.
3. Just being around other Somalis, by going to the masjid. The mosque is a great networking place and I know must Somalis from the dugsi.

There also not to be some kind of social dynamic that could bolster our numbers. It isnt sustainable for women and men to postpone marriage.

But I want y'all to brainstorm something.

Set up colonies in Canada, Sweden and Minnesota to preserve the noble Macrobian race

I feel that your sentiment is very based but some of your focuses are misguided. IMO ethnic purity and steering clear of Westerners is a misdirection for the Somali people, and our culture will never hinge on homogeneity, barring some insane genocide or cleansing. I'm not saying let's turn into a melting pot or whatever, but insulation of Somali culture doesn't foster stability or authority in any sense, especially because we still manage to find ways of ostracizing people through qabil and skin colour while everyone comes from the same deen and virtually identical ancestry. Besides, one of the reasons why it's so hard to find resources to improve one's Somali is because it is heavily gatekept by the already small Somali diaspora, with plenty of 100% Somali parents refusing to teach their children and grandchildren, or inversely unwilling to engage in cultural exchange with non-Somalis, the way French, Italian, Arab, or Chinese people disseminate their culture through food and business with foreigners. Your point of religious congregation is very strong though, and masjids def serve as the last bastion of Somalis getting to congregate with one another in a community setting. Another thing that is overlooked is community centers, which would do so much good outside of just Minnesota, Ohio, London, etc.

Showcasing our culture through the arts and crafts would be cool. For instance, creating a comic book based on Somali history or making art exhibitions that feature Somali inspired art and traditional textiles (Alindi).

I would love to see more of anything art related. Everyone loves seeing pretty work.

Also, community centres would be nice, similar to the ones Chinese people have. Their ones are usually a place where they celebrate the Chinese new year, teach their children their language and culture. I remember coming across one before and they were raising awareness on issues that were happening back in their country. They also had English classes for those who couldn’t speak as well as activities such as tennis and football. I think it would be great if we had something similar to that.

The museum must also highlight the urban identity of the Somalis, in terms of buildings such as Mogadishu, and there must be diversification and fashion

Somalis must not be influenced by agendas and we highlight this part of our history

Im gonna fix Somalia by marrying 4 women having 7 kids with each of them and with all the benefits/welfare money I’m gonna ration their needs so i can maximise profits. Invest it all into khat business 40x my income. Fund a ultra fascistic right wing millita to over throw the government. Rule as philosopher king for the rest of my life. Make the hier be ambiguous as possible ensues the era of princes Somali edition.

We can and should never detach ourselves from Somalia! There is no looking beyond.

Somalia is the greatest gift we have and will ever have...it's unfortunate we don't appreciate and understand that.

But there are others who do- Ethiopia, Kenya and probably many others.

If we don't fix up now, people will be speaking about Somalis 500yrs from now like they do with extinct/assimilated ethnic groups like...

the Harlas, Illyrians, Carthagineans, Etruscans, Samnites, Garamantes etc.

Many of those ethnic groups had lands and even empires...but no longer culturally exist anymore.

If it can happen to them...it can easily happen to us.

Harlas are ethnic Somalis and they still exist today sxb. Them being a whole nother ethnicity or them being extinct is a colonial propaganda to discredit Somalis any old monument in Somalia.
They attribute old graves in the midst of woqooyi and Puntland to Harla but Harla are Darood Harti and they still living and breathing now

Literally they don't have a single word they can attribute to "Harla language" every Ethiopian i talk to apparently there's a different micro tribe that are decendants of harla and not Somalis. These tribes are new too and barley if ever mentioned jn futuh

How can Harlas assimilated to the Afar claim decendent of Darood and have a manuscript with their whole abtirsi? And these Harlas were isolated from the rest of Somalis for many centuries since the fall of Adal
