There's no proper consensus when it comes to this stuff and numbers are exaggerated for various reasons(representation, aid, etc)
Madhibaan and Yibro weren't hunter gatherers, they were and still are artisan communities who intermarry. I think they started the discrimination because they were probably wealthier due to their skills but that it backfired once other Somalis became more powerful and wealthier.
You're confusing Madhiban with "Tumaal". They're two separate groups, Tumaal are artisan people but Madhiban were always hunter-gatherer people. Somalis called hunter-gatherer people Bon/midgaan because Somalis were nomads.
You cannot mistake this two each were marked with different name. Tumaal = artisan, Madhiban/yibro /sagaro dabato=hunter-gatherer.
Actually the Yibir are artisans who are well known for their daggers. Madhibaan also have communities who make a variety of things. It's not straight forward as name.
lol I 'm telling you're confusing Tumaal" for - Yibir and Madhiban.
Yibro are called yaxar or sagaro dabato.
There's a documentary about Yibir and Madhibaan and a Yibir man says that they learn crafts from their father and always have work. On Wikipedia it says they perform menial and specialised tasks. It also says that they make sallis for prayer. If they hunt animals it's because dadka don't pay them enough for their work but that doesn't mean they don't do skilled work.
See fella you're talking about present day when the so called all outcast clans assimilated with one another, culture diffusion. They're all same today. But my reference is to the older hunter-gatherer clans Madhiban and Yibro.
