Why are there so many Nordic Somali women in London?

They used to exist here before but my goodness I’ve come across so many of them in the past year. Why has there been such a massive increase recently? Can someone from this community please let me know.

Not that I am complaining of course. The majority of these women are very easy on the eye. But I would say the amount of them over here who wear hijab is less than 20%. Make of that what you will

hmmm.. most of the somali women in nordic countries wear some variant of the hijab 85%>. I think it might be outcasts of them who chose to go to london to try their luck with the somali/ajnabi over there. Another thing i have noticed is that in nordic countries somali women arent fawned over and fetishized by other men as much as it seems they are in the UK, judging by postings of the abayos from over there.

I can only speak from my own perspective, but I've spent most of my life in Norway. My friend group is quite diverse, but the closest friends I have are some other somali girls. Out of the five of us, four don't wear the hijab, myself included. I don't really know why they choose not to wear it, as that's a personal decision, and it's not my place to question it. As for me, I simply don’t want to wear the hijab it’s just a personal choice, nothing more to it.

I visited my cousins in Denmark they have to drive like miles to get to bazaar for halal meat

London is so blessed I walk 1 minute and I got halal chicken butcher, another 20 seconds halal pfc, another minute like 4 other halal pfc, another 5 minutes I got halal KFC, another 10 minutes I got 6 mosques, another like 15 minutes free healthcare in hospital, Wallahi best spawn point in the west

They are living there or just vacation?? I can’t tell why they are there, haven’t noticed significant decrease here. I also haven’t seen a significant decrease in women not wearing hijab, pants are common nowadays though.


Non-fob scandi somalis nowadays are easily over 100k and especially the 25-20 age group is huge compared to the older ones. Im talking about 10x difference. Its not a small community anymore, that might also explain a bit of what you see too.

Most of them I see are just scandis lots from Norway specifically. I think they’re just students lol I leave them be they’re really nice people extremely sociable too.

Probably just year abroad folks, London is really good for unis and no language barrier. Let’s not think the worst of them

I have actually noticed that many Somalis are moving from Sweden but it tends to be mixed. Many move to Africa but also to other English-speaking countries

Can’t speak for other countries but for mine and the situation is alright, we are kinda innocent compared to others but there could be better infrastucture regarding our religious spaces and organisations. Masjids are quite small and only few are big. This means there is not enough space to hold large scale gatherings. There is only one significant organisation that holds events like that btw. I actually like it, everybody congregates on the same places, but its not enough.

This ties into our level of imaan. We can’t hold that many muxaadaros due to limited space and women suffer from this. Also, we do not have that many people that hold lessons in finnish, we have progressed a little bit on that fortunately.

For comparison, your from Canada and especially Toronto right. Your masjids hold basketball tournaments, lessons, all sorts of things that are nonexistant here. KBW mosque is famous kkkk. We still go to the masjid, hang in there but thats it. You need more in order to retain the youth.

Still, people here are for the most part maskiins. No clubbing, thugging or any other frivolous activities. Girls wear the hijab, guys chill at mosque or somewhere else, we are actually good.
