Why do Somali fathers allow macalins to beat their daughters?

Somali dugsi makes you tougher and reinforces masculinity in the soft west

That being said I myself got beat very badly when I went to dugsi in Kenya and since there were no cell phone cameras in Africa 2004 there was no way to prove it .I beat him very badly when I became 15 for trying to touch my sister inappropriately.

I still remember the look on my moms face when i came back with a broken nose and blood all over my hands got sent back to America after that 😂😂😂

I don’t think it’s misogyny, it’s plain old child abuse. Those macaalins beat the boys even worse sometimes. I used to get beat with a stick and even a wire. I had a macaalin beat me up like I was his age mate as a kid. I never told Abo though…. I thought it was normal.

However, in saying that I do find it interesting that Somalis aren’t softer on daughters. That’s what makes Somali misogyny very interesting. The men look down on women, see them as less than men, but they’ll be rough and beat little girls like they’re boys, when they’re older they’ll have no issues with them working or having businesses since they’ll tell them to help parents pay bills and or send remittance whilst saying they must be the ones to do all the cooking and cleaning. Fathers and brothers will be more than happy to take money off their daughters and get them to help with bills, whilst treating their sons like princesses. The Somali form of misogyny is to exploit women like a work mule whilst demeaning them in the process.

Whilst I don’t deem the actions of those dugsi Macaliins as misogynistic, but a form of child abuse, I do think beating girls like they’re boys is a great example of how Somalis see gender and when you assess the overall picture, you see how unique African form of misogyny is. Tbh, you also see this with working class South Asians with regards to finances.

You know Somalis are a cooked people when we associate violence with teaching Islam all to imprint that on our children, and then we act suprised why we're the bottom of the barrel when it comes to nation states.

Not just Somalis, so do South Asians although with South Asians this intense beating is mostly reserved for little boys. It’s still bad and at one point, Channel 4 documentaries exposed this.

I can’t talk for other groups but for Somalis, the mentality behind it is that the macaalin is like a ‘parent’, hence he can beat the kids the same way a parent can. Unfortunately, their attitude to beating kids is a reflection of Somali parenting and their mentality surrounding parenting. 9/10 times this beating is done with the consent of parents and the parents at times will even beat the kids afterwards.

The sad reality is that child abuse is normalized by Somali parents themselves. Macaalins would not be able to beat anyone without the explicit approval of parents and the reverence given to Macalins.

Demonization of dugsis and Macalins is a Zionist agenda. You all are falling for it, may Allah bless our Quran teachers!

A lot of Somali parents get this weird notion they can do whatever they want to us and we're supposed to just put up and shut up about it, and if we complain about the abuse, somehow we're being caasi and that we owe it to them, the only explanation for this is the Geeljire culture, nomads pretty much get their kids working at a young age, and you can't really have a nice fond childhood with that.

It's a cycle, they've been abused so they know no better, Alx most parents in my extended family are softies.

This might happen in some random tuulo back in Somalia but no way in the west anymore. I might agree 10-15years back hitting with a ruler or stick used to happen but that shit doesn't fly anymore. All it takes is one 991 call and everyone at the dugsi will be deported/jailed.

It's the same with the fgm stuff that literally doesn't happen but all these women moan and complain to the gaalo for sympathy.
Im from Minnesota and I got beat like crazy. Im Generation Z too. Getting your ass beat in Dugsi is not some old thing. Do any of y’all from MN know Masjid Abu Bakr in Minneapolis.

I used to catch lashes to the hand in Malcaamad in Toronto. Then went to an Indian majority madrasa that was very multicultural and beating boys was even worse there. Islamic education system in Canada are definitely breaking laws.

Ive heard of teachers in different parts of Toronto from different communities being accused of sexual shit with their students as well
Lmao the TJ and Arab dugsis in Minnesota were so fun and chill. These niggas would pass their cashir by reading off the Kitaab. I was perplexed, like y’all don’t have to memorize. Some girls even wore pants at dugsi. I was in complete shock.

My cousion told me about them I was so shocked imagine going to dugsi whithout beating

Most of the dugsis I've seen in Somalia the girls have it easy compared to the boys. Unless the girl gets a psycho macalin the most a teacher would do is hit her hand with a stick and it wouldn't happen too often they are actually more kinder to girls.

But the boys, damn the boys, wallahi they would get put in a room and their shirts taken off whilst getting absolutely battered by a grown ass man. I dont know how things will change because its so ingrained in the culture back home. If you said to someone in Somalia don't let the macalin hit the children, they would say to you how else will the child learn anything? Smh

Btw back home don't send your kids to a macalin from a different qabiil, close relative or same sub sub clan is better. Imagine sending a HG kid to a raxanweyne/biyomaal macalin or MX/MJ kid to an Isaaq macalin? :russ:

The reason why fighting maclins is so common in Africa

At my African dugsi some fobs took broken chair legs and beat the maclin until he want to the hospital

Parents often egg them on and encourage it. I remember when the Macalin at my dugsi lost his beating stick (I think he accused us of stealing it) and one of the parents got him a new one 😂

It’s also because a lot of non-Arab 7ufaadh don’t learn Arabic so they have no deep connection with the Qur’an.
If you study Arabic and understand the Qurans meaning you will constantly recite Somali dugsi need to start Arabic classes otherwise we will end up with a bunch of atheists

Once I learned Arabic at a young age. Salah especially Taraweeh was something else. I think everyone benefits from learning Classical Arabic. Be

My son hasn’t even hit the age to watch cartoons yet but I plan on only letting him watch Arabic cartoons which mostly is only Classical Arabic and not dialects.
