Yes. In arabic it's called tamima and in somali it's called hirsi. It's supposed to protect you from all kinds of evil and shaytan. In islam it's haram and there is hadith/hadiths against it. Usually sufis in this case somali sufis write down ayat from the quran al-karim in small sheets of paper and wrap around it a small leather case then use it as a neckless or arm band.
Filthy shirk. Glad it's not a normal practise anymore
How is it Shirk when he clearly said it was Quran protecting them not an amulet

My ancestors worshipped only Allah SWT show me evidence
You’re an absolute retarded if you think Sufis worship anything other than Allah and you will have to pay on the day of judgement for these insults.

stop lying. somali sufism is riddled with kufr. this is one of the biggest somali sufi leaders.

The timoweyn are found in puntland, galmudug and sool. As for sufi branches, there are many all following a specific sheikh but don't know enough to estimate their number sxb
They're all over Somali territories in Hargeisa during the muwalid day they're the ones leading the events and they also take care the grave of Awbarkhadle

This Suffi tradition is connected to the miracle of Prophet Moses parting the sea and emphasizing how a bond with the Almighty and His omnipotent strength can bring the impossible into existence.

Amulets have existed long before islam, you can't simply halalified or islamified by substituting what would otherwise be superstitious objects such as a horse shoe or a three leaf clover with sheets of paper carrying qur'anic verses.

The ruling on the use of amulet is clearly stated in hadith and you can't circumnavigate the hadith by wordplay, technicality or a loophole. The only one that can protect you from evil or shaytan is allah azawajal who's closer to you than your jugular vein. You pray to him and ask him to protect you using du'a from the sunna. Sheets of paper with quranic verses can't protect you it's better to read quran instead. Relying on anyone or anything else other than allha سبحانه وتعالى for protection is shirk.

Interesting. Is there anything more you can tell me?

Retake your shadada salafism has existed since the creation of islam.
No it hasn't, ironically the old Muslim empires like the Ottomans and the older Caliphates were much more ''progressive'' than Modern Muslims. In fact, Modern Muslims would probably takfir every person living in the Ottoman Empire and the Old Caliphates if they were alive today.

The amulets were from strange cultural and traditional ignorant roots.

The Yibir used to blackmail Somalis by saying pay for an amulet I am going to make, or I will send a curse on you. They were soothsayers/magicians and leather workers, even "blessing" weddings noted in our early modern culture, paid for it to dodge fear of the supposed repercussions in the form of gifts. It was ignorance. The Yibir were deep into the sixir stuff, and Somalis felt tied to those non-Islamic relational acts because of a contractual myth.
