Why do Somalis deny someone their ethnicity if they are not Muslim when Arabs don't?

Arabs are Sunni, Shia, Orthodox, Catholic, Alawi, Druze and god knows what else yet they don't deny each other being Arab because they understand religion isn't ethnicity. Why then do Somalis think that once you ain't Sunni Muslim you are expelled from the Somali identity? Serious question

Because Somalis are by far the most religious Muslim ethnicity. Also virtually nobody is non-Muslim. Even now it's weird to think that there are Somalis who aren't Muslim. Just seems odd to me.

100% of Somalis are of Muslim origin, therefore the only way you are ethnically Somali and not Muslim is if you have decided to leave the religion. Many Somalis regard that act as a betrayal of one's identity as throughout the centuries Somalis have been muslim and nothing else.

Arabs, on the other hand have communities that have never embraced Islam and have been Christian or Druze ect for centuries.

If Somalis had a community, that have never embraced islam and have always therefore never been Muslim, then no we would probaby not deny their Somalinino.

Not true, Mogadishu was the main city on the swahili+benadir islamic coast up until the non-Portuguese Europeans arrived during the colonial period.
