Why do Somalis have big foreheads?

Big foreheads are present in nearly every ethnicity (except maybe East Asians). I think ours are more noticeable because of our face shape, we tend to have narrow small faces and small features in general so a high forehead stands out even more. And hairstyling. Those with straight hair can use bangs to cover a large forehead but since we tend to have curly or afro hair it doesn’t cover it up.

Personally I love my forehead it compliments my face perfectly and adds to my beauty. I like to tie my hair up to showcase it even more.

Big foreheads are a neotenous trait and a sign of low facial dimorphism which is indicative of subpar prenatal testosterone exposure

In slow-life history (K-selected) environments the amount of sexual dimorphism between men and women is reduced and reproductive behaviour is delayed - thus neotenous traits are more likely to be retained.

What does all this mean in simple English saxib

I dunno about you guys but I love my big forehead. Kids used to roast my shit but I have high self-esteem so that never affected me.

1. If a child doesn’t receive adequate testosterone in the womb they’ll appear more effeminate; a rounded hairline and larger forehead is a feminine trait.

2. r/K-selection is an ecological theory; basically in K-selected environments (which are harsh but stable), high levels of parental investment in offspring and tribal cooperation is prioritised in order to best survive due to living in a harsher climate so less emphasis is placed on competition and aggression - testosterone is a hormone that fluctuates based on the stability of the environment men are in, so if each subsequent generation is raised in a safer cooperative environment the body adapts and shifts nutrient uptake to the brain instead of the body which hence reduces male dimorphism.

which results in the men not differing excessively in physicality and looks from the women; a perfect example would be the Asian male who, in general, is scrawny and effeminate in appearance.

I honestly need to know why us Somalis have big foreheads. Like you could be walking the streets and somebody will automatically know that you're Somali because of our forehead . (I can't relate lmao)

I didn't even know Somalis had big foreheads until other Somalis started mentioning it. This doesn't run in my family. And we don't have as much forehead curvature either.

Rounder foreheads are common in East Africa and there is nothing uniquely Somali about it. Other than being a running joke for some reason.

I honestly don´t know, what i know is that many east africans also have the big forehead but apparently we are the only ones who get noticed yaab...

I’ve heard Ethiopians (habeshas) get joked about their foreheads.

But because Somalis have been gaining infamous recognition in recent decades and while being present in media and Hollywood and the barkhad Abdi movie (& the meme).

obliviously, people will start joking on us.
