Why don't Somali guys grow out their hair?

Somali men used to grow their hair out, and butter it, a few generations ago just like Afars do, but why did they stop doing that
It looks amazing Y'all have some great hair, why do you cut it?
Somali guys with curly or afro hair look 10x better IMO

Some of these guys are Afar, but I still put them in, because they have the same hair texture as many Somalis

This group haven't succumbed to arabization. There's a stark difference between how cultured they are compared to the Saudi dressed sheikhs with short hair, long beards who interject the somali language with Arabic words. That's how they slowly got the sudanese to lose their nubian identity.
