I'm Isaaq and my sub clan is HY but i couldn't care less about my qabil or subclan.

All I want is for Somalia to return to the democratic , free and fair country we had in the 1960s but at this rate it looks like we'll never unite over a single government let alone return to what we had.

I think most Somalilanders would agree with you, they just don’t want to consider Somalia whilst there is a war going on. It’s all very sad really.

It was concocted in djbouti through irirism they played on hawiye enmity for darood and isaaq love for icitiraaf and deep rooted hatred for darood.

Dahabshiil is one of the biggest financiers of al shabaab all the top al shabaab leaders are isaaq and Dir and all the cannon fodder are hawiye Who get blown up into smithereens everyday in Mogadishu but turn a blind eye due to irirsm and their hatred for darood.

Here’s a top hawiye leader exposing somalilands lead role in al shabaab general indhocadde

Mashallah brother you have done your investigative journalism. Do darood have their hands clean in all of this? :bell:Let’s be honest now.

this sounds like a basic question but I don’t follow Somali politics.

What’s so hard about defeating some raging monkeys with a low IQ?
We're talking about Al-Shabab while sitting safe and comfortable in our homes in the west. I don't know about the government but the reality for the 'small' people living in Somalia is very different. They terrorise small villages and rule with fear. IMO, standing up to them is easier said than done.

When I went, I met a young woman bringing up her son alone and was struggling to even survive. She said her husband one day up and left to join AS... he was not very religious and, up until that point, a good father and husband. Mind boggling. There were other villages where AS would come and forcibly recruit. Sometimes the bored teenagers would join them willingly. Fighting the enemy means possibly fighting your family. it's a lose-lose situation for a lot of people.

It’s clear that Somalia has to offer the youth something better.

You can’t expect them not be lured when are poor and destitute.

It just seems like we’ve been fighting them for years and there’s no progress.

True.

People are scared and have no government to protect them. Al shabaab threatens them with death if they don't join and people are forced to join an organisation that they hate just out of fear for their lives and the lives of their families.

No certainly not they are many darood who are being used by isaaq leaders of al shabaab as cannon fodder just like hawiye is being used there’s many darood who are footsoilders of al shabaab They are the uninitiated

Wow this is a shocking read :ivers:

The Somali government are really benefiting from this and the fact that our army are underpaid and not even trained to use guns???
not only the government benefiting but businessmen and cartels that run Mogadishu thats why evne though Mogadishu was under road blockade during Ramadan assassinations but AS and ISIS were still happening. Alshabab is with the local people and the government very complex situation.

It’s very disgusting considering they are helping people who blow up kids...all for money. How do they live with themselves? Somalia has received so much money from the US and EU, if we spent 10% of that money on the army AMISOM wouldn’t be needed. The bit that stood out for me in the article is when it said outsiders are more interested in building the SNA than the Somali government is. How sad is that? Somalis are their own worst enemy.

The international community will sooner or later give up on Somalia, In my opinion they should leave and let Somalis form themselves maybe we will have more war who knows but everyone should withdraw from Somalia. The EU is not having faith on Somalia and the Federal government - http://goobjoog.com/english/somalia-partnership-forum-issued-no-confidence-communique-in-brussels/

The country is a lost cause

No it isn't.

If Rwanda went from a country of a mass genocide not seen since the second world war in 1994 to this.

I think we have hope.

For as long as people are willing to change their country then Somalia will never be a lost.

You’re so hopeful and so naive

Bless you

Some places have hope

It’s wrong to say Mogadishu represents the entire country

I don’t know the answer to your question but I do know that evil never wins in the end. Good will ultimately conquer and win. Don’t lose hope :)

I’m not even mad because they deserve this. I honestly hope they get better and better. For some reason crime rate drops when there is less litter on the street, so they are on to something. I love that they are forced to clean their country once a month. Wish somalia adopted this. Somalia really should model its self in Rwanda.

I know. Rwanda is going to be a beautiful country and we need to follow their model of how to rebuild after conflict.

The worst thing is that a safe and beautiful country is something we had. I can't help but be angry at our parents generation for destroying it.

I spoke to my mom about this and whilst they had it good, a lot of them wanted to rebel against the nepotism that was around. Every generation experiences nihilism in the traditional sense. Which means the children want to abandon their parents way of thinking and doing things. Also Is this generation any better? Wannabe gangsters and salafis? I’ve given up on this generation, they are not the solution. I’m praying for the next generation, may they embrace science and peace! We have 20 year olds raised in Europe who think children are dying in Somalia so that God can teach us to be more religious.

No doubt somalia has potential, and this can all be fixed when we have peace. With the right people and the right policies Somalia could rebuild to its best in ten years.
