Why is the divorce rate so high in the Somali community?

not really. you don't have to be on the extreme ends of things. Looking at the comments, many women think her situation is empowering. who thinks that about a divorce? and if people do feel that way, they are better off not getting married to begin with.

she's a single mother now. How about warning women? how about advice on doing enough vetting before settling for someone? how about talking about how it isn't easy to be a single mother? If by the end of the video, the comments are filled with congratulations nayaa, what kind of message did she hope to send?

lol anyways, it's her life.

Idk it seemed like she was talking about being a divorcee from her experience. She wasn't promoting it like no one wants to be divorced anyways. But yeah I just thought people were being encouraging in the comments and just well nice?

It's high because Somalis are not allowed to have relationships before marriage. The divorce rate wouldn't be so high if young people got some real life experience with other people and see what relationships are all about (i.e., how to treat a lady, expectations of the man, sacrifices, etc). They won't appreciate these things if they never had to experience these things.

You have people who get married after a few months of knowing each other (mostly through the phone) and don't know what to do after tying the knot.

At least when other people get divorced, it's after 10-30 years of being together. Most Somali divorces happen in less than 2 years and the couple is barely together anyway in that limited time.

Somalis in the West are also very socially awkward and depend on their parents to get them someone to marry. That doesn't help you when seeking a lifelong partner.

The Pakis and others don't have this divorce problem because they will be killed or shunned from the family if they so it.
Divorce rates are high in Americans too even tho they date before marriage

People vet according to their current disposition, hence why filth attracts filth and the corrupt go with the corrupt.

The only beneficial advice you can give to such people is to better themselves by getting closer to Allah everyday through continual spiritual cleansing.

The more they engage in this act, the more divine guidance they receive, their standards increase rapidly, they become experts at due diligence and vetting and as a result they make better choices.

If you examine the life of all these divorced women, you see a lot of vanity, materialism, narcissism and vile irreligious behaviours, even from a lowly worldly perspective they are worse then the infidels who don't go as low as they do.

A women who deeply desires useless wedding extravaganza that doesn't even benefit her in the worldly sense outside of her own ego and demands from the male to pay up even if it results in deep debt.

Will only ever attract an equal qashin bakhti male who is just as bad as she is, no amount of vetting will ever stop this, her own condition has to change first.

True.
I was only surprised at the many congratulating comments. divorce, especially, with a child shouldn't be so celebrated.

I don't know what type of a person she is to say anything about her tho. People need to be smarter when getting married.

One white woman told me that Somali women don't know how to treat a man.

Women love to lie to themselves. She knows deep down that the only guy who would ever wife her up is a desperate guy who would only use her.

She better start praying qiyam ul layl for a good husband.

people in the west actually require more time to grow up and become a responsible person but unlike cadaan whose parents prepare them the responsibility that comes with adulthood, western Somalis are straight up ciyaal in their 20s, many of them still living with their parents.
I think the best ages for western somalis to get married should 29+ for farahs and 27+ for xalimos. falling below the above age range increases your risk of divorce.

She probably thought she was in a Disney movie when she managed to lock down that cadaan guy, but now she bears the brunt of the ajanabi divorcee stigma. Her story is no doubt circulating in her community, just another cheese and xalwo.
