Why South of Laascaanood is not free i'ts impossible militarily for SL to stay there

Not true. Goods from the port of Berbera to "Somalia" cover as far as Gedo via Tukaraq. Don't mix between SL and the Somali merchants who use it's port let us see if the Ethiopian merchants can keep SL alive🀣🀣
It doesn't make sense for someone to transport goods from SL through Las Anod and then through the perilous region of South Somalia to Gedo. This route is highly illogical as it exposes the transporter to a significant danger, and they are likely to face multiple taxes along the way. Instead, it would be more feasible to take the route through Ethiopia and then proceed to the South.

it goes through Ethiopia. Gedo gets basically good from kismaayo, berbera and mogadishu.

kismaayo to gedo has shabaab problems and roads are not good. mogadishu to gedo has isbaaro problems. berbera to gedo does not go through hawiye lands it goes through Ethiopia.

watch from minute 5, it confirms what i said.

AAW talked about this. Berbera is very popular in the Deep South and runs through Ethiopia. His words verbatim.

Said there’s little chance of getting Xamar goods to Gedo yet is a way shorter journey. Forget Kismayo with all the Shabaab.

Tukaraq is the 2nd largest customs point after Wajaale in the North. It brings in nearly 4 million dollars monthly into Somaliland's government coffers. Somaliland taxes goods coming into their territory from Somalia (specifically Puntland) at this checkpoint.

Why are you lying?

Below is the 2022 Government budget book.

The numbers you pull is fake news :pachah1:

Also the goods that come from Puntland into Dhulbahante terroritry hardly get taxed to benefit the local population but as soon those goods enter Isaaq territory it gets taxed.

The report sourced in this thread highlights this.

What horse's ass did you get that info from....

We don't have 2 borders.

All products leaving were taxed at Tukaraq. Somaliland doesn't allow imports from Somalia.

If you don't believe me listen to the PL State parliament session where they complained they see SL products in all their shops but are not allowed to sell anything in SL

That's not true.

There are certain goods that come from Bosaso port that enter Somaliland borders as it's more competitively priced which all comes down to market forces.

Which is why you also see that some imports from Bebera enter PL and the rest of Somalia simply because it's cheaper to import for certain goods (economies of scale with the bigger port and good infrastructure links).
Dhulbahante folks get a preferential treatment when it comes to imports in Somaliland which is why it was partly able to maintain its authority in their territories.

In business it's all about price and that's how you win alliances with people that hate your existence :pachah1:

So Tukaraq is not even included in the fiscal report?

And why is Lawyacado not mentioned? Or is it categorised under Saylac?

I believe Tukaraq falls under Laascaanood as it's within its district just like Lawyacado with Zaylac.

I believe soon the custom points will be refigured and be streamlined and etc.

If you were to analyse the chart you'll come to see big issues with how resources are shared in SL.
If that was the case wouldn't other towns named on the list fall under their own districts? Like Xariirad should fall under Saylac. There's no need for the abnormal categorisation.

They should be refigured but they've set it out exactly the same in the 2023 report.

I personally would suggest a change in regime if you want to see actual change as the current minister of Finance has been at the helm for a while.

Fresh ideas with policies and etc is needed in government but it's a shame there's no discussion in this area from anyone in "parliament" or "political parties".

I think the only thing that was suggested by those not in government at the moment is to remove the import tax redistribution to local municipality laws.
