Lee Shailong, granted he modified the style of fighting by incorporating a multitude of fighting skills from other sports in then developing Jeet Kune Do, with karate and boxing influence. When Kimura, a prolific karate fighter first fought Lee, Kimura won from the go, but then the 2nd, and the 3rd, it was an easy picking for Lee.
There's an interesting story about an altercation between Bruce Lee and Gene LeBell, a Judoka, on a movie set. Allegedly, Bruce Lee was subdued and couldn't do anything to Gene. I believe he started to learn grappling from that point on.

Fake sport do a real martial art like mma or wresting your ancestors (if your from the south) beach wrestling was a popular past time they have some completions here in America I belive
It's absolutely useless when comes to fighting but it helps with other things
I am assuming you have tried Wing Chen? If no, which other close-combat sport do you prefer to it?

Have you sparred in the ring?

I’ve wrestled most my like (American folk style the highschool sport) but I’ve hoped to get into the ring one day you have to be 18 to compete so it’s just a couple months from now
That would explain. It is unfortunate Somali wresting, which I have been trying to get into, having tried Indian pehlwani, with its roots in Persia, as I later found out, is a dead art from now, even with nomads.

Curious: how did you form the opinion that Wing Chun is 'fake sport'?

Somali wresting is just american beach wrestling or Greco-Roman wresting all three of them are completely identically Greco Roman is my favorite type of wrestling it’s mostly upper body but you can lookup your local wrestling club or most mma gyms have wrestling classes

wing chun is just a sham sport I mean it’s ineffective for combat wise and all the β€œwing chun” gyms are for profit gyms β€œmcdojos” pretty much and it’s a lot cheaper to join a bjj or mma gym if you wanna become a better fighter plus it’s a pretty cool to say β€œim an mma fighter”

It’s interesting base. Don’t let this keyboard warriors discourage you from practicing that ancient martial arts.

Is it the most efficient discipline? No. Will you able to defeat and defend yourself against an untrained aggressor, which is 99% of the population? Absolutely.

in terms of efficiency I think nothing beats submission wrestling, followed by bjj. With efficiency I mean the advancements you make within 6 months compared to 6 months of, let’s say, training boxing.

Oh I know; I have been boxing since high school, dabbled in judo, taekwondo, have been pracising Wing Chun for six years, and am now exploring nomad wrestling. My instructor, in his 90s was stronger than 30 years old in his prime, and showed it in practice and training, sadly he passed away a few years ago.
