It’s cause I’ve seen this go terribly so many times in my own family, and heard and seen first hand how it destroyed so many people I know. so yes I have strong views on it. Why do men go about things as if women don’t also get jealous and possessive, just as they do. Like a man can be married and wanting to find a second wife, he’s talking and flirting with a woman behind his wife’s back. Or he brings up having more wives to his wife and expects her to just accept it with no animosity. It makes no sense.

Just as men get jealous and mad if another man is chatting or moving to their wife or whatever, we feel exactly the same. Jealousy is a very human emotion, and I’m sick of niggas acting like women don’t feel it just as much as they do. If your husband brings up wanting to marry another woman, the wife will obviously feel incompetent and there will be anger issues between the women AND the husband. Women get rightfully angry and jealous of a second wife because it means he no longer loves you in a romantic fashion. Like @Periplus pointed out, the prophet Muhammed SAW didn't marry another woman whilst Khadijah was alive.

In addition, he ended up marrying widows, divorcees and captives aside from Aisha, and not just young virgins like these Somali men who are obsessed with polygamy dream about.

I find it gross when men try to compare their uncontrollable lust and lack of scruples with the prophet SAW's situation.

Bear in mind at the Prophet SAW's time, men did what they wanted to women and women couldn't survive without male protection.

Muhammad's first marriage was at the age of about 25 to Khadijah. He was monogamously married to her for 25 years until her death, after which he is believed to have had multiple wives for the reasons explained above. With the exception of Aisha, Muhammad only married widows, divorcées or captives.

Muhammad PBUH did not marry a second wife until his first wife (Khadija RA) died. Also, I feel like one needs to be at a considerable level of wealth, in which re-marrying does not place financial strain, before they can consider re-marriage.

That’s a requirement in Islam, man can not get more than one wife if he isn’t financially competent.

A lot of Somali men will appear on the day of judgement with half their bodies paralysed, thanks to not controlling their lust and not treating wives equally and fairly, these broke men who have the nerve to want to split their tiny income between multiple homes.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “A man who has two wives and he does not deal justly with them will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with half his body paralysed.” (Sunan Tirmidhi, no. 1141)

Iran and Egypt are smart enough to intervene to control these broke out of control men and their wishes to abuse 4 wives through poverty. Citing the following ayahs:

“but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one…” (Surah an-Nisaa, 4:3)

“And you do not have the ability to do justice between the wives, even though you may wish (to do so)…” (Surah an-Nisaa, 4:129)

Based on such verses, certain Muslim governments (like Iran and Egypt) regulate the provision of polygyny: the person who intends to marry a second wife has to seek approval from the family court and prove the need for a second wife and the ability of providing for both in an adequate manner.
