Let's not dance around it. It's a significant contributing factor. Probably if one runs a massive statistical analysis comparing percentage of African Americans and crime rate you will find a strong correlation.

African Americans are distinct cultural group. Not talking about all blacks, but colonial slave stock descended African Americans have a culture praising crime.
They need a cultural revolution as well. 228 shootings in 2017 is fucking insane. My city here haven't seen a shooting in 70 years, and Chicago has 228 in 3 weeks. La xawla.

Relative poverty. There's no real poverty in the US. The ''poor'' people there are often fat and have all kinds of gadgets at home.
That's because they eat fast food. Quality foods such as fruits and vegetables are much more expensive than fast food.

Still nothing compared to real genuine poverty in the second and third world.
Cheap smartphones nowadays are the equivalent of a camcorder, microphone, computer, phone, and many other previously expensive items in one. So called poor Americans have access to this and much more.

I've repeated it before but I'll say it one more time: these people escaped second class citizenhood not even 50 years ago. Every leader they had was either sniped or died too early to bring significant change.
Not entirely sure how people believe hundreds of years of perpetual enslavement and then a hundred more years of exclusion can be eradicated in 50 years tbh.
Also Chicago has pretty much always been a shit hole whether it was the Italians shooting the f*ck out each other or blacks. The 70s were a far more disgusting stretch than now and things haven't gotten better.

Yeah that's second and third world but in comparison to their fellow citizens they have a harder time climbing social ladder because of social and economical reasons. It is harder of them to compete. No one chooses a life of poverty.
