Force all Somalis into a single metropolitan area.
Either we sink or swim together. No gobolnimo bs.
Nationalise all land and lease arable land to commercial farmers.
Use the farms to produce feed for livestock while trying to urbanise pastoralist.
Tech for a basic industry and a strategy to train millions of Somalis has to be developed years before taking charge.
We should be able to produce 80% of what we need for a top level hdi score using 1950's tech.
Steam generators power plant, railways, mills, metal refinery and machining shops... All century old tech with the most recent updates 40 years ago.
Less reliance on FDIs and foreign currency for even necessary things like energy.
If we don't have oil or natural gas readily available; plant biomass fuels to generate electricity with.
If we require metals and minerals not available in Somalia; import from the region before adding value and export for foreign currency.
Only way to become self sufficient and build a future is through temporary isolationism until we develop our basic industries that could compete in the global economy.
For example; is there any point of building a solar panel factory when China could build it 5 times cheaper?
Anything we'll produce to export would already be manufactured elsewhere much more efficiently or cheaper through other means.
We can't expect an economic miracle like Japan and China in today's automated world.
Just build for ourselves temporarily while protecting our industries from global pressures.
In terms of governance...
National council of elders that have the ability to create a referendum on any law or decision by the executive leadership.
The rest of the government structure would depend on some factors I don't have much information on.
In terms of our foreign policy.
- Border treaty with Ethiopia & Kenya in return for a FTA and free movement of people.
- Security deal with US over our naval activity in the red sea and the gulf of Aden... i.e a naval military base in return for some space to develop our country.
- Start building better relationships with African countries and improve our image after decades of bad PR.
- Stick to standard international organisations and keep away from regional or global faction politics. A sneeze from any large power could set us back again.
