This is from historical accounts in the Middle Ages though.. while I am speaking about changes happening around early Roman times.
I think ancient genomes from Eastern K5, HGs from Bay, early Pastoralists from Djibouti / West Somaliland will confuse people a lot like the Taforalt genomes were...
Controversial take, but Hawiyes are most likely a population similar to North-Central Somalis who expanded to the South like Marehans, but earlier.
We need more ancient genomes from Somaliweyn as I think Kenyan and Ethiopian ancient genomes can be misleading about the population history of...
I don't think so.
Let's wait for more ancient genomes from the Somaliweyn territory.
I think proto-Somalis from the 3,000-2,500 YBP period will most likely be more Eurasian related than current Somalis as the absorption of Somaliweyn hunter-gatherers was likely not completed until ~2,000-1,500...
@Tambien
To expand:
Eritrea: geopolitically strongly anti-Western.
South Africa: because they had to deal with white people and there is a lot of hostility between locals and white people.
Ethiopia: their English is broken af and they don't consume much Western media, they are on a cultural...

Ngl, Russian is the most bad ass evil villain sounding language. Even when they are talking about flowers and butterflies in Russian, it sounds like they are plotting something nefarious.
Russians proved military aid in Mali and C.A.R.

Oh shit, look what he said here:
''Ukraine should be annexed by Russia because "Ukraine as a state has no geopolitical meaning, no particular cultural import or universal significance, no geographic uniqueness, no ethnic exclusiveness, its certain territorial ambitions...

''The United Kingdom, merely described as an "extraterritorial floating base of the U.S.", should be cut off from Europe.[8]''
Already partially acheived through Brexit.
This guy is the Rasputin of the 21st century.
I don't think Russia supports the rightwing in the EU/West because they like the ideology. They mainly do it for destabilization reasons. Their entire playbook is written down here.
''Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States to fuel instability and...
Both my first name and last name are Somali.
Luckily my first name is easily pronounceable, but white people butcher my last name.
Mr. #7B!3%$
Arggghh, the butchering works on my nerves sometimes.
It is not because they have mixed more with SSAs than Egyptians in recent years. It is mainly due to the Taforalt population which lived in the Maghreb before the Anatolian farmers was likely more SSA shifted than the population living in Egypt at the same time period. @Shimbiris posted...
More or less, but you forgot the Pygmies and the various types of Eastern HGs.
You can use SSA as a short cut, but in the genetic sense it is not a real component. Just like Eurasian is barely a component.
It depends on the definition of SSA and what the component is made from.
The more paleolithic the SSA definition is, the lower the number goes. The more East African samples (including HOA HGs etc) the higher the number gets.
SSA is also not a genuine component. The Khoisan and Yoruba are less...
Maghrebis are lighter due to having more Anatolian farmer ancestry.
Egyptians, even Muslim Egyptians, are more non-SSA genetically because they have a higher proportion of Natufian/Arabian-like ancestry than Maghrebis.
Skin color is a bad measure. Indians are much darker than Arabs, but they...
