That church is the architectural and spatial symbolic and material manifestation of our oppression and colonial punishment - it had nothing to do with Somalis - an offensive imposition, an affront deliberately placed to insult, demean, and demoralize our very nature. Let me explain one of the satanic strategies used by the Italian Christian organizations with how they manipulated a select few Somalis toward Christianity.
The Italian missionaries came to Somalia and took children from their mothers while very young, promising educational attainment that would set them toward economic and social mobility. Shortly after, they converted those children through indoctrination and isolation from the broader community, and the mothers were blocked access to their children, who now practiced Christianity. It was so bad that the colonialist told the missionaries to stop their practice because they showed excessive malevolent practices the wicked Italian colonialist themselves had less enthusiasm for because of the potential disruption in population management inciting discord.
A paragraph from sources I read years ago substantiating that fact from Italians themselves:
"Sources do not provide enough information on the way children felt about conversion. Certainly, some form of coercion took place. In 1927, Gabriele Perlo wrote in a letter to a donor that Muslim mothers of meticci were forced by the governor to enroll their children in the missionary nursery school, as they were “reluctant” and “diffident” and would never do it spontaneously. Another report says that in March 1928 thirty-four Somali orphans were baptized, which constituted a “success” given that prior to that event “many of them had repeatedly refused to be baptized.” Similarly, four documents from July to August 1928 reported that two Muslim mothers implored the governor to have their respective children back from the missionary schools. These passages suggest that foundlings went to schools as a result of a coercive assimilation and evangelization policy."
And there is the more well-known practice of sinister spirits taking orphans and doing the same evil undertakings mentioned in the source. Thankfully, multitudes came back to Islam by the mercy of Allah.
