AFRICAN claims Baati/Dirac isn’t Somali

This thread is quickly becoming cancer. Hear me out.
There is no problem in people calling Somali stuff as part of their culture if they have been using it for many generations. Somalis do not call sambuus a Persian food, don't they. It is part of our culture because we have used it for a long time.The problem is when people who have no history of the diraac or other cultural items claim it.
As for the language. English has many more times the Arabic loan words as Somali despite Somalia being right next to the Arabian Peninsula. Take that as a win and quit while you're ahead.
Somalis take credit for stuff we borrow from cultures that are recent. For other stuff that have integrated into our culture, we do not.

That's exactly what I was saying. Also every culture has some sort of version of Dirac. Somalis have injected pridnimo iyo bantunimo into their deeq.

I have seen Somalis bend over backwards to claim bariis iskukaris and mandhi are different. Or that Malawax is not Yemeni.
Regardless if that is true or not, why are you all so pressed. Let them call it theirs, if they're really gonna steal Somali culture and not be proud of theirs, that is their inferiority complex.

"English had dominated Italian in official circles and had even begun to replace it as a medium of instruction in southern schools. Arabic--or a heavily arabized Somali--also had been widely used in cultural and commercial areas and in Islamic schools and courts. Religious traditionalists and supporters of Somalia's integration into the Arab world had advocated that Arabic be adopted as the official language, with Somali as a vernacular"

Gorgorad is an obvious loanword since it ends in -ad. Almost all Somali words that end in -ad are loan words from Arabic. I have yet to find an exception.
