It has been 12 years since the capital was recaptured and the FGS was planted there, yet the gains in security and sovereignty over the country's territory have been absolutely abysmal. They've made practically no progress, while neighboring countries continue to leap ahead economically and institutionally.

All this failure stems from the fact that the FGS was never meant to serve the Somali people's interests or propel Somalia forward. It exists solely to protect the interests of its masters, which in this case are the countries that keep it in power via ATMIS and supplement its budget so it can operate. It is essentially a colonial government, and we as a people have no true sovereignty over our country.

I see people here placing all their hopes on or blaming every ailment on [Insert President], but they fail to see that the issue is much deeper; it's an institutional problem. For as long as the 4.5 government exists, and every member gets their seat through pure nepotism and corruption, we will remain a laughing stock to the world. Nothing short of a full revolution and dismantling of the current government will save Somalia. This country on its current trajectory is only headed further down the toilet.

Its an unfortunate fact but one we need to deal with. Another Islamist government is never coming unless you want another invasion. Removing the 4.5 system and establishing anti-corruption measures are a must.

It already is in the toilet. You can really only go up from here and the country was 10x worse over a decade ago. I have faith that the west finally realizes that a developed and stable Somalia is in their best interest instead of an AMISOM playground.

There were people who thought like this more than 3 decades ago and we know how matters unfolded. The current security issues in Somalia is terrible but having another all out civil war is much worse.

There was an article a few weeks ago that I saw of a few guys in the Somalia government that lied about their credentials. I know one of them through in-law connections and he's very stupid and a very shady person. I can't believe he has such a senior role in Somalia's leadership. I am still in shock weeks later. You would get angry finding out how stupid that guy is with the amount of influence he has. Somalia will definitely not defeat Al Shabab.

We can never Negotiate with Al shabab.
Their ideology labels everyone who opposes them, even their own mothers, as infidels. Reforming such a deeply ingrained belief system would take decades.
The institutions we view as signs of progress are not effectively addressing the threat posed by Al-Shabaab.

Many might argue that some of these individuals were part of the ICU, not AS. AS was the armed wing of the ICU and only separated after Sheikh Sharif defected and became the President of Somalia.

We often complicate our understanding of Al-Shabaab and its operations, but rarely do we question those who have infiltrated the government and are given access to national security.

How will this happen when one of the AS founder ( Robow) was made the Minister for Religous Affairs by HSM??


Robow should be dead, he only "switched" sides because he had a falling out with other AS leaders and he lost an internal battle , so he was afraid for his own life.

Farmaajo said he could have immunity if he gave us important information, but he could never be in politics. Robow straight away reneged on the deal and tried to run for President of Koonfur Galbeed with the backing of UK and Nicolas Haysom of the UN.

He was imprisoned by Farmaajo, but then let go by HSM and made not just a minister ....but the Religious Minister.....so HSM is giving a signal that the religion of Robow - which is blowing up Somalis is the correct religion..

Anyways AUN to the innocent, but at this point I'm weary of saying AUN.

The problem is ideology, a lot of Somalis believe in the same religious fundamentals of AS - Somalis like our own President HSM.

Sadly, this problem is wider than just AS.

Somalis still see AS as Muslims ....and that's the bloody problem!
