Instagram reels is always hateful but most of the stuff is stolen from tiktok. And X has been a racist hellhole since Musk bought it but it’s not a threat to the insecurity of young girls. We really should be focusing on white nationalists trying to inflict harm on our community due to that website.

Some of the instagram hate videos are not from tiktok. The white nationalist are using X to push their ideology, racism and misinformation. There's nothing much we can do but pray X gets the boot or it's resold to someone who is politically correct.

People are xenophobic to us regardless of the trolls or not; before 2019, videos like “Would you date a Somalian” would get 200k views and many likes. What did we do to these people then? Since when do Somalis have a history of being anti-black and racist to people irl? We definitely don’t. European people are racist asf, from Greeks to Hungarians, yet they never go through hate trains. If hate trains were proportionate to racism, then it shouldn’t even be our turn right now. There are other ethnic groups more deserving.

That was because we were refugees not somali. Not many people knew us until around 2006/2007 is when more somalis started to enter the uk is when people became familiar with us. I would say they started to know us to some extent 2004.

what part of the uk?and who was being xenophobic? and yeah somalis faced severe xenophobia in schools back in the late 2000s and early 2010s even continuing towards the late 2010s but to a lesser extent. yeah it's only oodeys, those that cope or those that don't care about other somalis that always try to deflect my posts and is always the men who failed our name and country ufffff. Anyways bullying against somalis in school across the west is going to be rife. There needs to be helpline for our community especially in the UK where we have cudcud ridden maadows and cadaans obsessed with us. Somali parents defo need to know what's going on and analyse their children whether they're quite at home or dismissive when talking about "how's your day at school". My sister already heard stories from hooyos complaining about their children being bullied in school and this was last year imagine now? its sad to say but we went back to the 2000s in terms of us not being rated and targetted again. Never thought we would go back to raise days. Heartbreaking

So yes, we do have some loudmouths and some doqons who air our dirty laundry. However, there is already decades old dehumanisation on a global scale which has already tainted the perception of millions who have never meet a Somali. I was speaking with a white lady and she told me that her old coworker said we are refugees because we ‘kill each other for tribe’. I could believe that she misinterpreted or dumbed down what the Somali guy said but I’ve heard older Somalis say that EXACT thing. You do not hear any other group calling their civil war ‘people killing each other’. Whether it’s Ethiopians, Syrians, Sudanese etc. Even the most layman people can expand on it. I’ve even seen Somalis get angry when ajanabis want to support Somalia and explain that Somalia deserve it (famine/war) unlike Palestine. Why would you expect ajanabis to understand the nuances of why the Somali state fell if many are saying it’s ordinary Somali people’s fault?

Many people are brutal and cantankerous online due to anonymity. This is not Somali specific.

It’s interesting how those who blame Somalis ignore the horrible comments that madows in particular leave on any Somali related content. This has been going on for years. Black French Twitter would joke about the famine in Somalia for years without any interaction with Somalis online. I’m talking back to 2014.

Did you expect Somalis to just take the abuse? If they can make jokes about piracy, famine and war unprovoked, why is a Somali bringing up slavery in response the end of the world? Did you want us to write poetry to people mocking the deaths of Somali children? Ku laha hitting people in the jugular.

Also, Hollywood propaganda has a far bigger reach than some Somalis referring to the civil war as people killing each other in their conversation with some old cadaan ladies. Not to mention the fact that Somaliland secessionists are the most vocal about Somalia’s civil war and they paint it as a dictator wiping out people in a genocide . This is very similar to how Syrians, Ethiopians from Tigray and many others describe their conflicts so I don’t get your point.

As for the famine in Ethiopia, this happened in the 1980s, long before the social media age. They simply don’t face the same issues we do. If they were to be constantly targeted unprovoked by cuqdad ridden, often Islamphobic, madows drunk of Western propaganda, it would be bariya this and bariya that.
