What’s the margin? Also, it’s difficult to assess since the South is very diverse and you have some who are mixed more so than others. In old DNA breakdowns I saw reer NFD having more SSA DNA.

I wish I could remember who posted it, it was something along the lines of, the further North, the more MENA, the further South, the more Nilotic. Of course, you're right, this doesn't take into account the people who have mixed with cadcads etc.

By more mixed I mean some being mixed with Bantus. Tbh that study you’ve mentioned sounds like one I saw in which NFD Somalis which is very South were the ones who had the highest SSA, not Hawiyes who live more central.

Last I remember it was somali ethiopians who had the highest SSA admixture. Probably an omotic component from mixing with oromos. Oromo concubinage was not that uncommon back in the days.

Remember that the middle east has significant gene flow from Eurasia and Africa, L3 and M1 mtdna are found, the Arab slave trade primarily cut off testicles of males and brought females for house cleaning etc... but quite a few had been graped or made into concubines.
