Hello reer somaliyeed! I would like to know who here is a fan or not a fan of the Arab League? Do you think we benefit being part of it or do we cut ties and become true proud Africans again?

Being a part of the Arab and being a part of the African union are not mutually exclusive. We can be proud Africans and a part of both. It's better to be in as many of these groups as possible.

The Arab league is like a cult, if you start to stray away from it, al saud will do whatever they can to destroy you. Look at Libya and Syria. The Arab league as a union has done nothing for Somalia. The Arab league only seems to benefit gulf countries.

I was raised in the Gulf and noticed these arabs don't care for us and only mock us and use us. since the war what have they given us? nothing but Wahabi terrorism and taking our women as cheap labour (maids) I oppose pan Africanism but I want us to be strong Somali state with no Arab influence or ties
I want us out too these bastards also ruined our dhaqan our men and women look like xoolo in those arab outfits! arab leagues build us corrupt dugsi instead of proper schools and hospitals. This league is a bane on our progress as a culture!
Nothing wrong with having strong alliances with our neighbors but it has to be a relationship that is at our advantage.
Since we are a smaller country demographically to them we need to leverage our relationships with the Arab world to be in a better position.
The more alliances we have the better. Have them compete with each other for our favor and if one ally becomes hostile we have others that can come to our aid.
In an ideal situation we would have weak neighbors who we can take advantage of. But since we are in a weak position it is ideal for us to not be too dependent on any one country.
But what do we gain from the Arab world? All they pumped was wahabism, taking our people as cheap labour and hardly investing anything worth it back into our country. The fact Somalis bend over backwards for the Gulf and get no love in return shows we gain nothing. This not only makes us a small nation but also a very weak minded and easily manipulated nation.
There is no benefit to being part of that group.
People will say, "we get aid from them so it's beneficial". How so?
Why would you want your country dependent on foreign aid? It's not only only bad for your dignity but also for development. How will you develop and make your country progress when you're relying on aid?
Somalia needs to get out of the Arab League.

Your dignity is wiped on the floor being part of it. All that for some chum change? we are more than that. We don't need them, they want us in only as their abeeds and to further their wahabi ideology. we are only pawns to them nothing more. We need to leave and save face.
I fully agree but tell me what are the chances of us ever leaving this poisonous league?
All of those problems can easily be stopped if we had competent politicians.
Most of the politicians are paid by gulf countries so they sell out the country's resources to them.
But with decent leadership we can actually use it to our advantage.
Leaving the Arab league wont solve any of those problems anyway if the corrupt politicians are still there.

It wasn't a problem before just that the current president is weak minded and easy to manipulate. Of course there are benefits to being in the Arab league, but you won't see it because politicians are just interested in salvaging a bit of cash with no foresight!

None. These people are sick. They use our membership to brag that the Arabs think Somalis are Arab.
They'll cut communication with their own mothers before leaving the Arab League. That organization is very sacred to them. I think it was only Sheikh Sharif who was even able to speak at the Arab League; the other presidents needed translators.
