They aren't smart enough to disaggregate an entire continent where the Twa and Dinka are so contrasting in stature and appearance. And to create a continental mean height make no sense and to claim its the average Somali height is insane but its reddit.

I actually don’t know how tall I am, I know I am somewhere around 180 cm but Idk how off I am of that.

I haven’t measured my height in nearly a year now and last time I measured I was 176 cm. But ever since then I hit a growth spurt and I outgrew most of my clothes so I actually had to go shopping for new ones.

When it comes to height in my family I’m sure my brothers and male cousins are much on the taller side, even for somalis. If you took all our heights and averaged it up it’d reach somewhere around 185 cm on average. I know this because even at my 180 cm I’m the third shortest out of my extended family of 12 males older than 17.

Funny thing is out of the older generation of males the tallest out of them is at most 176 cm lol. My dad and my uncles are all short yet all their kids tower over them.

I’m not one to go by hearsay but the 5’7 average for men is probably the most inaccurate thing about Somalis on the internet. Even 5’9 is a stretch imo.

White people love making everyone seem shorter than them to boost their own egos, they obviously went to some IDP camp, found the most malnourished adults and then used them as a data sample.

Malnourished Somalis are generally shorter than the Somali average. Their height is greatly influenced by nutrition status. Also look at their wrists.

Have you watched Drew Binsky's vlog of South sudan? I was reading the comments and someone was like "Imagine coming from a race where everyone is model material" and the replies were full of salty white people saying "They're ugly" or "Stop fetishising them" or the classic "ThEy're NoT aLL LiKe tHat". I think on average the Dutch are taller, but the Dinka are probably 'genetically taller' and their tall gene expression is only maximally achieved in places like their Australian diaspora (good living conditions). The ones in South Sudan are often raised under malnourished conditions.

Same dynamic exists between diaspora raised Somalis and Somalis raised in Somalia.

Crazy, my boyfriend and most of his family are kinda tall. Yes, tall Mexicans do exist. There was two at my job. One of them looked exactly like Giganta from Superfriends. She’s was 6 feet tall. My boyfriend is 5”9.
