Phones so much?
So couple of nights ago I was watching the local news. The local news reporter was going around the city asking people on the streets questions. She asked if any of them can stay away or not use their phones for 24hrs. Most people they cant. Then she asked them "Would you rather not eat for a whole day or not use your phones?". The answers she received were shocking. Majority of the people said they can be without food for a day but they would go crazy without a phone.
I can stay without a phone for a day but not couple of days. Can you guys do that? Would you rather not eat and use the phone instead?

Phones are a necessity. I need my useful apps like train time table, bank account access, Gmail, and others apps that make our daily lives easier.

Most of can go without using our phones for Instagram and Twitter for 24 hours. I don't think it's that hard, personally.

I agree phones makes our lives easier. But would avoid eating for a whole day if you were told you have to choose between using your phone and food?

The people who will chose phone over food are probably the selfie addicts and Twitter addicts. I will struggle without a phone for a day but I'll still be fine without it. Food > Phone.

I mean our phones are so useful, like @VicePrez pointed out. Sometimes I forget that it's initial sole purpose was to be used to call and text people lol

What scares me infinitely more is proprietary software and hardware. Basically software and hardware that is completely operated and controlled by the company that made it. Most of our phones/laptops have this. This is terrible because we'll never be able to see the open source code. They don't want us to see it because they already have backdoors that government agencies like the NSA utilize to spy on everyone. I mean at the end of the day you gotta ask yourself; do i really own this phone and it's software or does the company that made it.

This type of stuff is what Edward Snowden sacrificed his entire reputation and life for, just so the masses like us can be aware of it. A simple google search on any of your products (weather it be a windows laptop/pc, or a apple phone, etc..) will show you how it's not secure. The entire concept of privacy in this modern era has been completely re-defined and doesn't exist like we believe it to be. Which is scary because think about how much personal information you have spread across your phones and laptops/pc.

Interesting, do you need your phone for work?

I am talking about my personal phone for personal things like texting and entertainment

When I'm working, I might only use my phone for 20 minutes every hour. I do what I do on my phone on the computer instead.

Did you read about Snowden's latest leak? He was going on about how GCHQ/NSA can take pictures with your phone, control it without you knowing even if it was off etc..

If Somali's weren't all over FB and twitter I wouldn't use them as often as I do - this site is addictive too. I didn't have a phone with internet until a couple of years ago and I miss my internet free weekends. I just replaced my lost kindle so I'll go back to reading books in my spare time instead of skipping to the good bits.

The funny thing is, I hardly use my phone at all. For all the main stuff that people do on phones (like FB, other social networks and anything net-related), I prefer doing them on my PC and can't stand doing that stuff on phones. I have a 5 year old phone and my plan is Pay-as-you-go (or prepaid, as others might call it). There are times I don't even have credit on my phone for a whole month. Well, I am boring in real life and from the bronze ages so I like it like that.

So you're not on your phone 24/7
You listen to calcaal Somali songs
You work, meaning you're saving up money since you're too cheap to even have a phone monthly plan

Damn too bad you're an atheist.

And I hope you drive a new car, wear designer colognes and know how to dress.

Facebook is kinda boring nowadays. I hate how when I log in I see posts from earlier days like seriously get that shit of my feed. Twitter on the other hand is nice. I like Twitter a lot. Even tho me and my followers are more of sportsholics we sometimes get into politics and other stuff which is fun. Somali Twitter is active. Waxaa jiray this funny brother I think he got busy but he used to bring the youth together with his comedy and ask questions and stuff. My timeline used to be hella active when the brother was on Twitter. Allow noo daa Twitter.:rejoice:

FB is set up wrong - your person data, photos etc alongside your opinions and the news. Its weird and I only go to the groups whcih are basically forums where you know everyone. Who was the guy on twitter? I bet I chatted with him on FB - I'm a Somali stalker.
