This topic inspired this poll, I am just wondering about everyone's thoughts on this?

I am of the belief, that teachers should not fraternise with students, should maintain an appropriate distance physically, socially and so forth.

So, 17 year old student, 20 year old teacher? The only issue here, is that these age-gaps don't exist in the education field. People graduate at 18 and then spend another few years in education, teachers are minimum 24 at the youngest age they start.

You know what creeps me out the most, women already complain about men being aggressive when pursuing people, refusing to take 'no' for an answer. Now as a parent, imagine that person is your child's teacher. A bigger, smarter person with 'power' to get your child a bad reputation in school and even kicked out.

I mean, if she is in high school, then he should be locked up; if it's at the university, the relationship will be unbalanced and it isn't very professional. It's a gray area, but at the end of the day, if they are both consenting adults. I guess that's what matters.

The teacher was a 23 year old Cadaan woman from a privelleged background. She fell for a 14 year old kid in her class and had a full blown relationship untill his parents found out and reported her.

It's crazy these things happen in the west. What do you expect from Somalia where there is no rules and regulations around these things.

One of the key issues here is the power-imbalance. Imagine breaking up with someone who has power to give you a bad grade, or get you expelled.

I think if someone is interested in another adult at university, they should get a written consent form from the parents and maybe get a job at another university.

Yeah that’s the thing a 24 year old with a 18 year old is weird especially one that’s your student.

Islam adresses all social issues, if its permissible according to Islam, I don't see any shame marrying your student. We are being deprived from marrying our beutifull young ladies, because ellegedlu they are under age.

One of the ways in which I judge someone's character, is if they can look at someone they find objectively attractive, but still say no for certain legitimate reasons. People who don't have such boundaries, are capable of anything. It reminds me of those stories you hear, about a man whose friend was grooming his daughter. Or the creepy uncle who seduced his second cousin's child without telling him and so forth.

Trust me, these types of people, who are attracted to everyone and don't care, are very dangerous, don't have them around your kids, your wife/husband, anyone really.
