I love federalism. I live in a federal country. I want Somalia to be

I brought up qabiil when @InaShaqalle brought up introducing a UAE style system to Somalia.

That inherently means making qabiilism a permanent reality in Somali politics.

I don’t want Somalia to be divided on qabiil in 50 years time. Do you?

When people get an honest government and get free healthcare, free education, housing and they feel safe, they will rely less on their qabiil.

Qabiil is by definition an extended family that has to act like a pseudo-government when we have corrupt megalomaniacs in charge.

The less corruption there is, the less qabyaalad there will be.

These people who try to claim that Federalism is more 'qabiilist' than Centralism make me laugh.

For instance, if Puntland was dissolved, we'd still end up with several regions and the same amount of reps in the Central Parliament.

You cannot make us a minority no matter what system you invent, and that's what troubles some of you the most.

I even heard of a laughable proposal by @Periplus where he said people should get paid to move to other clan regions.

I have never claimed or argued that federalism is qabiilist.

Nor have I ever promoted centralism.

Don’t do this please.

I have said this before.

I agree with qabiil-federalism until Somalia stabilises. It helps creates pockets of stability during an incapable government.

After that, we need to have honest conversations about ditching qabiil as a society.

We don't need to 'ditch qabiil' , we must only ditch 'qabyaalad'.

All clans are equal, but I will not erase my lineage to please another person. That's my ancestry, it is not haram.

You know what I’ll leave it here.

Thats a respectable opinion and a good first step.

Inshallah, you change your opinion on it but at least it’s better than the majority of Somalis.

The way to ditch 'qabyaalad' is by instating laws to prevent discrimination based on qabiil. For instance when it comes to jobs, qabiilist rhetoric etc. Once that's done and all Somalis have equal access to education, healthcare, business loans and so forth, qabyaalad will be less and eventually disappears.

People only feel 'qabyaalad' when they sense they are targeted by another qabiil/in competition for power and resources etc.

Remove these injustices and qabyaalad will cease mostly, save for among ignorant individuals who will always discriminate anyway against anyone they dislike.

What makes Deni a sensible and qualified candidate ? I know nothing about the politics in Puntland and Somalia.

Thanks in advance.

He has increased accountability in PL as well as transparency regarding tax collection and finances. His main crowning achievement was implementing IC-grade accounting systems in PL, first in Somalia.

He has introduced one man, one vote in PL. Also was crucial in setting up the multi-party system.

Nearly every Somali president had nothing to their name prior to their election.

Deni increased accountability when many Somali leaders would stick to the status quo. That’s why he got my respect.

I have problem with confederacy not federalism though I prefer centralism over it. You can’t call Somalia a federal nation when some of the states have their own military, have their own ambassadors and embassies for other sovereign nations and even banks. Ultimately a lack of strong central/federal government leads to a weaker regional influence and a stronger foreign influence on domestic land.

If you still don’t agree with this. You can keep fighting over wells while the laangaab Tigrayans who we quadruple in numbers are looking to take back the HOA.

Embarrassing

You forgot to add, AlShaydan used to assassinate people all the time in Galkacyo and they have been eradicated thanks to the people his Government hired.

Galkayo became a lot safer under his administration but tbh I personally put most of it down to the shaydaan HSM taking his fingers out.

I know people have opposing views on it but that’s my two cents.

Deni will lose against Farmaajo he doesnt have the support of KG, GM or HiirShabelle or Dir.

He only has PL and JL MPs. This will guarantee Farmaajo re election.
