Do you believe women should cook for their husbands?

Where in Quran does it state that women have to cook for their husbands? I mean, its a good deed but I highly doubt it’s compulsory..

~ Depends on the family dynamics and on the man. If he can’t cook himself, then I don’t see any harm in cooking for him. (I married him cus I love him, so why would this selfless act bother me?)

I think the role between a wife and a husband should be balanced. You give some, and you take some.

«Men are the protectors and maintainers {qawwamun} of women, because of Allah has given the one more {strength} than the other, and because they support them from their means...» (Qur'an 4:34)


(There is a hadith that mentions this as well, and it goes more in depth of the gender roles. I couldn’t find it. I’ll tell you if i do.)

~ The prophet (pbuh) said its haram to kill women in battlefields (as well as priests, children, etc..);
which implies that women shouldn’t be fighting in wars.
