I've been to somalia People who bleach their skin basically never look natural. she's probably covering how her skin really looks with filters and makeup.

I saw a young lady in Bosaso who had gone deep with the bleaching and it was genuinely uncomfortable to look at her. I do not say this to be mean but I just mean that her skin actually looked greyish, translucent and even veiny at times whilst turning pink in an unusual way quite often. Legit looked like she was dying.

The best way to combat this is to make Somali language documentaries, "video essays", TikTok PSAs and just any form of media that educates what the results of skin bleaching are towards women, their babies and the social well being of society, etc.

Well somalia is in sub saharan africa where majority of people are dark skinned so that makes light skin very prized. But somalis are next level. Any non deformed light skin person is legit considered attractive by somalis in africa. Not true. There are Somalis that are very pale without being admixed. It's not the norm, but they exist, I have them in my own family.

I would not say pale but olive skin like Arabs or very common in yemanis. I know it's not the norm and rare, I also have them in my family but because of few individuals who bleach their skin anyone with a lighter shade is suspected of bleaching their skin, to me thats very ignoranate and shows AA mentality. Next in the line will be somalis women iron their hair, they must all have kinky hair.
