Bleached Fob Halimo ‘flexing’ on Diaspora Halimos that they are light

It was not common at all, and it was mostly a north-western thing historically from my understanding. I have a strong suspicion that bleaching was introduced the same way khat was, by Asian/Arab communities. Khat xagee nooga timid, if not Yemenis? Bleaching xagee ka timid, Hindi?

Somalis still don't understand how harmful it is, to allow unbridled Asian migration and their media into our country.

Khat
Bleaching
Asian beauty standards.
Asian media; bollywood, turkish/arab media.

Dadkaan dalka iyo dadka halaga qabto inteey goori goor tahay.
I think bleaching is just some globalization thing, too much of Bollywood/Turkish drama

benadiri have madow blood, no way they are racist would want an actual middle easterners

I've seen ethnic Somalis who marry CadCads have children that end up looking Bantu. A combination of dark Somali skin and broad cadcad features. So, a colourist/cunsuri is not going to marry cadcads/barawani, it's counterproductive for their colourist/featurist agenda.

I've noticed negligent/criminal Somalis like to invoke that it was 'Allah's will' when something befalls them that they did themselves.

My mother told me that one of the worst things that can happen is when an idiot learns the phrase "qadar allalh" because they will use it to justify their stupidity.

Plus I fear what will happen to babies who are born to two previous generations of qasqas merchants. We have to end it now before it becomes worse !

Women back home are very uneducated when it comes to skin and skincare. Another aspect of bleaching not spoken about are the bleaching combinations they use also adds Tretinoin, which alone is completely fine and used in the West for array of skin care issues like acne, skin aging and wanting clear and to even the skintone, but the catch is that Tretinoin cannot be used by expecting women or women planning to get pregnant since a high concentration of Vitamin A can cause embryo deformity and other issues. Someone who is educated and has been prescribed this by a doctor or their local pharmacy will know this, but Reer Somalia will simply put medical grade skincare without a care in the world or understanding even whilst expecting or planning to.

Even Hydroquinone combined with Tret if used with doctor supervision is actually ok if you only use it for 3 months if you have moderate to severe hyperpigmentation. Even American dermatologists prescribe it to people with Malasma and all sorts of skin pigmentation issues. However, people using it must take a month or two break every 3 months, use a strong sun cream ect which people back home don’t do.

Hence, the real crux of the issue with Somalis back home is the misuse of these skin treatments and to make it worse they mix it with with hydrocortisone creams for people that have eczema causing even more damage to their skin barrier. The worst culprit when it comes to bleaching is in fact dermovate, which is a cortisol cream used by these ladies that makes them super pale but it’s incredibly damaging and funnily enough it’s for people with severe eczema and only meant to be used for a week. Even people that use that cream for a purpose and responsibly end up at times having withdrawal skin effects, so imagine these women who use it night and day?

Women back home need to be educated in health and beauty and they need to be taught to love their natural pigments. Using Tret, hydroquinone ect is fine if you have hyperpigmentation but they need to educated as to how to use and preferably with a doctors supervision to stop them from overboard and messing up their skin.

As a group they tend to look like a mix of South Asian, Arab and Bantu and you can tell from their features like the Somali banadiri boxer Ramla Ali

There are also ‘gibil madow’ Benadiris that have more Somali DNA and they tend to be darker skin and have the more typical Somali nose, eyes etc

The funniest thing is, Somali women in the diaspora have popularised darkskinned /maariin beauty on a global, to the point where other ethnic groups try to emulate Somali women. Those qasqas queens have no idea that they could just wake up, wash their face and be considered a beauty. What a shame.

I used to joke to one my cousins who used to live my mother and I years ago when I lived at home that she and my mother just naturally had the sort of nose many women all over the world get nose jobs to have.

Gibil Madows are normal Somalis. A certain segment of the Abgaal (Yacquub) were Gibil Madow and in fact the most prominent Benadiri tribe during the 19th century (see thread) Some few might have mixed with Gibil-Cads sometimes but most of the GM tribes are just normal Somalis and the source of the 30-40% Somali ancestry the GCs show in models (sometimes looks Ethiopian/Eritrean in poor models you find on sites like AncestryDNA). GMs are so idistinguishable from normal Somalis that they pretty much avoided any discrimination when the civil war broke out, unfortunately unlike the GCs:

According to representatives from Shansiye interviewed by Landinfo in Nairobi in September 2005, the socalled dark-skinned Benadiris, i.e. Moorshe, Bandawow and Dhabarweyne, were protected by their Somali neighbours because they were dark-skinned (and presumed to be more native Somali), while most of the lightskinned Benadiris had fled at the beginning of the civil war (1991-1992). - Source

I have relatives that are Moorshe and Reer Maanyo and they look exactly like us. Even the Sadex reer Geedi come under Banadiri but claim they are related to the Abgaal.

Maybe the ones you have met have more Somali admixture, because Asians and Bantus have broader/protruding features than ethnic Somalis. The ones I've seen, look Bantu/Arab admixed. Asian AND Bantu features, a combination of broad and protruding noses etc.

The first time I saw Barawani I thought they were half White half Bantu people. No Somali feature to be spotted. But then again, they also speak a Swahili language.
