$80 million was part one, and the deal was made 4 years ago. Still Somalia owns majority of the revenues and the full port. We could buy the Turkish Firm up or let them pour in even more money as they continue making a money to fund it.

I'll have to wait and see how much Puntland actually will own and control.

Still consider Mogadishu being more unsafe than both Puntland and Somaliland so investment was much more risky back then, and still is somewhat today.

Still Mogadishu got a much better deal than Somaliland as they own the majority of revenue and the whole port itself. Still awaiting Puntlands details. If they're along the lines of Mog Port that that's obviously better for Puntland itself.

If Puntland manages to do the same deal or a worse one than Somaliland then they should be ashamed. Gaas is educated in economics I think so he better use that brain of his

:mjlol::mjlol:

Shares have not been released, by the way, did you not read the report, the development of the port is only a 30 year concession, Was Bosaso and Kismayo ports going to rival Dubai's ports with 30 years? :comeon:

:camby:
30 years is a long time. And Dubai is relying more and more on trade as oil dwindles up. You have to think geopolitics and geoeconomics. Still the Saudis managed to buy out the American oil owners and own their own oil eventually. So that might happen with this Port

Puntland should aim for full ownership and majority of revenue. Still what is Puntlands actual goal? Do they want Bosaso to become a full fledged port like Berbera will be and Mogadishu is?

Somalis aren't original, ports will be over saturated on the Somali Peninsula meaning everybody gets less money overall. Hope Hobyo Port doesn't go this route, Hobyo has other means to establish themselves.

Why does no city want to become the technology center? Or the education center? Or oil center? Or anyone of the dozens of options to stand out.

We will see sxb, you right, if its a stupid deal he should be called out on it. The thing that made the SL deal look stupid is Ethiopia getting percentage of it:snoop: :what::what1:

Good, point time will tell

just admit that was a bad deal. its not target practice for houthis bad but still bad
The figure was low but it was for the first phase I believe/hope

Considering it was in Mogadishu it was far from a bad deal. And the Turkish Firm is always reinventing profits per the agreement. And so should Mogadishu be doing as they have most of the profits.

Whats the point of boasting about short term economical gain when you don't even have control of many areas of the south. Puntland and Somaliland achieved their deals from stability.
Yeah and still with Berbera never seeing battle and being safe they got only 30% share, Mogadishu got 55%.

If Somaliland were smart they'd get majority control as the port was primarily wanted by UAE and Ethiopia meaning Somaliland had the leverage. They could have gotten a much bigger share, not given Ethiopia anything, used their Red Sea access and their goal for ictiiraf in the deal making but it appears they settled for the worst deal possible. I suspect the officials got some under the table bribes.

Puntland should use the fact that Bossaso is most likely never going to see battle nor ever has as a selling point. If Mogadishu can get a majority revenue without that then Puntland should have it easy.

Mogadishu got $80m for 20 years while Berbera got $440m for the same period (25 years)

Mogadishu will supply south Somalia only while Berbera will supply SL and Ethiopia

Initially 30% of Ethiopian imports will go to Berbera, in 2015 Ethiopian imports were worth $18bn so you do the maths

Berbera is more lucrative than Mogadishu
