Egypt has to decide if it wants war on two fronts, serves that dog Sisi right for killing Morsi.
Egypt has tried to arm the Eastern Libyan tribes few weeks ago and failed. There is tribal resentment in the East towards Haftar. His image as the general is seriously tarnished. The civilian rulers in Tobruk and Benghazi are powerless among the Eastern tribes. Russia and the UAE are holding the so-called eastern front from collapsing. The ordinary Libyans look down at the Egyptians. It is similar to how Palestinians view Jordanians. King Abdullah of Jordan is considered as a joke in East Jerusalem. El Sisi' image among the Libyans is no better.

Somalia doesn't stand to benefit from the brewing conflicts either way. We are too far removed. If the GERD dam causes prolonged war and weakens Ethiopia it might lead to its disintegration freeing up the Somali region. It is too far-fetched though. Besides, Egypt is financially weak and its American-donated arms come with caveat in terms of where and how it can be used.

Turkey is supporting Ethiopia on the dam issue. It is best for Somalia to keep neutral. I am hoping Turkey will start drilling for oil in Somali waters soon since they bought a third giant drillrig ship recently. Somalia needs funds to stand on its own feet.

Read up on what this dam will actually do. It will effect downstream nations more so basically just us. Egypt and Sudan are upstream. We don’t use the river water to their level because Somalia is a failed state for 30 years now that never went though an industrialization period fully. We simply can’t utilize the rivers the way we should have been. The people who rely on these rivers now is literally for survival. It’s an actual life and death thing for us. For Egypt and Sudan everything will just become more expensive
Egypt and Sudan are downstream to Ethiopia. Upstream nations are the Nile Basin countries. Somalia is downstream as well.
