The Mavs GM used to work with Rob Palinka and Kobe, the Lakers are always up to shenanigans. The NBA needs them to have superstars because they are the franchise that makes them the most money by far. Reminds me of when they traded Pau from Memphis and Memphis had Jerry West a Laker legend as GM, I believe. Pau immediately made them contenders and they west to 3 straight finals, winning 2.

They’re the NBA’s golden franchise so having them relevant will always be in their interests.
