ChatGPT can even guess Phenotypes correctly

Weirdly they mostly got it right. It confirms somalis do look slightly different based on regions and chatgpt has weirdly picked up on itšŸ˜šŸ˜ Maybe Somalis arent as homogenous as we think.. šŸ¤”
Ai is especially good at pickup up patterns so you are probably correct. It may have seen millions of images of Somalis and can find very subtle differences. Upload your picture to Grok and tell us if Elon thinks your are from lower shabelle too :icon lol:

I think the Ai is associating southerners with bantu features (darker/coiler hair) which I can't be too surprised at. plenty of Madoweyne looking faces can be found in crowds among south Somalis
Are you saying it was trained on such images? Not impossibleā€¦

Itā€™s not based off any user training content, rather sites like this that are filled with descriptions from the early 1900ā€™s containing misunderstandings on Somali anthropology when it comes to clans:

Not only do these early anthropologists fail to understand the concept of ā€œShegadismā€ amongst Bantu clients, ethnic Somalis rarely intermarry with the Madoweyne community. The few times that it does occur results in ostracization (Page: 14 and 12, respectively):

The features you listed, ā€œdarker skin + coiler hairā€, can be possessed by individuals within any clan (north and south). This same phenomenon can also be found amongst family members in which a spectrum exist in terms of features. Hence why many Somalis appear to look no different from your sister, your cousin, your grandfather, etc. despite being largely unrelated to you.

The fact that these AI's can't distinguish one clan from another correctly, all while assuming the vast majority of us are from the north, isn't surprising in the least. Even a Yibir/Tumaal/Madhiban would get these same results:

UNCU/UN-OCHA SOMALIA - "With the exception of the Bantu, Rerhamar, Bravanese, Bajuni and Eyle who have distinct "non-Somali" physical appearance, all other minorities have physical appearances similar to that of the dominant clans, as well as having ethnic and cultural similarities."

Despite what some trolls say, none of this should be shocking:

A. M. Mohamoud - "The results are consistent with hypothesis, supported by cultural and historical evidence, of common origin of the Somali population":

You can ask ChatGPT where it gets its data from and it will flat out admit it, all while knowing that its bad information:
