Malcolm sanctions are not temporary, look how long it lasted on iraq and iran, north korea? it stays untill you change and abide by internationl laws and regulations. Besides if ethiopia even gets the sea, the international community will not accept any trade with them. It's pointless, since they violated the UN law that they are supposed to be under.

Malcolm, there seems to be this 1500 era thinking in somalia regarding politics, for god sakes no wonder we lose in politics. We don't even understand the environment and rules we are in and how to manipulate it to our advantage. We think about big costly wars and forget the fact that our weaponry is sourced from other countries who can cut the supply(like russia did to siyad).

Even if Siyad took ethiopia, he would never be able to hold it for long because his weapons would need maintenance, new supplies, and russia would say 'get outta here'. His army would end up collapsing and the locals in ethiopia would wage war seeing an easy opportunity. You must calculate everything and all the side factors before u initiate a war and u start by yourself by analyzing your strengths and your weaknesses compared to who you are facing and workarounds for weaknesses and plan b's so to speak if a weakness is triggered.

Iran traded with China and Russia fine. It also traded with some neighbouring nations. Russia sanctions were damaging but it still traded with nations who didn't follow the sanctions.

Many of Ethiopia's imports and exports are within Africa who are too poor to obey the sanctions. With an access to the sea, there are many more countries they could trade with, perhaps Iran or China, etc.

Russia took over Crimea and sanctions were imposed. The US relaxed the sanctions already. Depending on what happens in the future, there's a chance the sanctions can be relaxed even more.

Sanctions only matter if everyone obeys them which is not always true.

Earlier I said that, if Djibouti did not have military base in the first place. The French was already in Djibouti in 1900s.

Ethiopia could have took Djibouti any time between 1900s and now.

If you look at history, annexations happened a bunch of times in the past.

Have you heard of Biafran? They were an independent nation, formally recognised by some nations.

It was annexed by Nigeria in 1970s. Nobody complained.

That could have been Djibouti.

Iran has crippled under the sanctions and so has russia, all it's people are prostitutes around the world. Sanctions damn hurt, it kills an economy. Somalia trades with the uae, but that isn't sufficient as you can see somalia is still hella poor. If you dont have access to markets all around the world, you won't be able to get goods and services at the best price, you will end up paying double because your supplier knows your situation. And sanctions dont hurt. Man listen, I cant keep continuing this discussion it's not going anywhere, you really need to learn 21st century politics and forget the 15th century stuff. Because your quite stuck in a very old age.
