Curious: Do Somalis Wash Chicken Before Cooking?

This year I’ve seen a lot of people—mostly Black folks, saying you have to wash your chicken before cooking, usually with vinegar and lemon. Some even shame other cultures for not doing it, which I find kind of odd.

Honestly, in my house we don’t wash it. We just cook it first and then roast it after, so I never really got the point of washing it beforehand.

I’m curious though—do other Somali households wash their chicken before cooking? Or do most people just cook it straight like we do?

Chicken is more bacterial than beef or lamb in general. That said, washing won't change that. What you need is to cook it properly.
