Somalis have always been a small ethnicity, not much you could do to change that until recent times. But we’ve historically occupied had huge stretches of land despite our small population, stretching from north-to-south Zeila to Kismayo and as far west as Hararghe and Bale. We also occupy rich land that can help sustain our developing country if used wisely, we have two huge rivers that gives us plenty of arable land for farming and could help us be an agricultural powerhouse in Africa and plenty of oil reserves to help kickstart the growing economy.

Africans are only now experiencing the demographic boom that Europeans had a century earlier, so we're sort of playing catch-up demographically as a continent.


Ancient Lower Nubians would have genetically resembled Cushitic people. In 2000 BC during the Kerma era they were mostly indistinguishable from us, but over time, they gained additional admixture from Egyptian and Nilo-Saharan populations. By the Medieval Christian period, they were roughly 40% Cushitic give or take. Today they are a three-way mixture of Cushitic, Nilotic, and Eurasian admixture at varying levels.

True about the Egyptian ancestry. But Nubian (Arabs) don’t have extra Nilotic since Nubians(Arabs) lack the west African like modern nilotes do. The reason it looks we have extra nilote is because the Christian era sample just had more Egyptian related ancestry compared to other certain Nubian groups due to their proximity with Egypt.
