The difference is Xamar has always been seen as a Hawiye/Darood battleground, post colonial era most of the Isaaq elites went abroad instead of Mogadishu, there’s nothing there for us. No presence in the area, no nearby allies, thousands of miles away from home. When they were singing about Addis being closer it’s not a lie, it actually is. I can drive there, I can’t drive to Xamar.

Over 200 years of being the dominant clan in the north, they never tried to expand or move into other cities, merchant class traded with others but put all the money back into the area or kept it for themselves.

They probably don’t want to rule Somalia really, they don’t give a toss about anyone else they think clan first. Some might call it Somalidiid but they realised early on that you’ll never be safe outside your ethnic homelands and it’s best to have everything you need within there.

Your clansmen tried the somalinimo card and put all their resources outside of their homelands for 60 years, where did that get you? You can’t say they were wrong in their thinking.

Everyone will just complain about Isaaq domination, Darood will never be comfortable with it, just like I will never be comfortable with being ruled from Mogadishu, Hawiye will never be comfortable with being ruled from Garowe/Kismayo/Bosaso.

There were no Darods left in Muqdisho after the fall of the kacaan government, through out the whole nineties the city was ruled by hawiye clan militias who were battling each other out for control.. Most Darods could be found around Kismayo and nearby areas as well mudug up to the north east.. I understand Somalia is a huge country, we are not a small langaab nation, something we should be thankful for.. Anyway, the best way to make everyone happy is to have a decentralized power, through federalism, muqdisho can be the capital but that shouldn't mean we should have some centralized power there.

Most Somali politicians regardless of qabiil have been educated in Somalia, they all know the value of a united nation, but choose to divide our power due to their hunger for power and arrogance.

Lool, now you mention it, being pro Somaliweyn and for unity is an ungrateful task, but the value and honor in being a united Somalia which would benefit us all is far greater than the bruises one would get in the process of making this happen.

In an ideal Somalia we should have politicians who represent different parties, like other modern democratic countries, this way it shouldn't matter the tribal affiliation of who becomes the president of the country, politicians would be chosen on their politics and vision and not for tribal reasons, I genuinely believe this is what we need to implement as well as federalism where each state can handle their internal affairs.. I think this would work fine and as we develop we would abandon the tribal mistrust between us.

You need a decisive majority to rule a country and Somali doesn't have one. It has failed shir after failed shir (now called NCC) because even the groups in the capital can't agree on one thing. If they did they could just control Somalia and bribe everyone else and it would be settled. They only agreed to FGS after the Islamist took their land but as the government gets more resources and weapons there's going to be civil war it's unstoppable at this point. Whether Somaliland becomes a fully indpendent country in the UN is up to the international community and we wait and see but yeah, Somalia is never coming back sorry for the reality check.
