Did The Older Generation Of Somali Fail to Authorize and Legitimate Somali History?

Atleast we arent denying that a brain drain plummeted in somalia and intellectual activity became near non existent especially in the period of 1990s-early 2000s.

In the source they call it "Pafida" and the dish they call "Kaja" do you know what those words mean? I have never heard of it in the somali language.

I can't really deny that , even Professor Abdi Samatar noted this.

It's hard to know, i think the guy butchers the pronunciation of certain words or the language sounds like giberrish to him, this happens less with Arabic sources than European ones. Most of it was relayed to him by chinese interpreter so that could also be also why he butchers the names. But his descriptions are other wise more or less accurate and consistent with what we know of Mogadishu

When Ibn Batuta visited Xamar he mentioned Somalis eating banana alongside mango but clearly describes mango with the Somali name for it''C/Amba''.

Finding sources like that is a skill

Like how do you even find a mention of muqdisho about a book talking about pirates written in the 1700s in old english. Next level research

The pirates are British and one along with his Chinese interpreter was captured in Mogadishu.

Mid 1600s- 1700s was the Golden Age of Pirates

The idea that Somalis were "nomads" is false. All Somali clans practiced a mix of agricultural and pastoralist lifestyles, arguable the former more so since Somaliweyn has the largest concentration of stone towns and urban centers than anywhere else in East Africa which strongly suggests farming being widely practiced.
Depends on which regions your talking about there are a plethora of Somali clans which have never practiced farming especially in central and northern Somalia mainly due to climate

It's more accurate to say that in locations where there is arable land people farmed in larger numbers.

But it's also true that certain clans practiced ''Transhumance'', in that they would settle down to trade or farm in certain climatic seasons and in other seasons they would graze their herds in the mountains while a portion of the population remains. It is why Somalis had to carefully track the seasons through a calendar.

I see young dudes online doing extensive research on Somalia and the horn of africa and even on this site, which makes me think that the older generation failed to educate and authorize our history.

There is a Somali professor of african history in UOT who claimed on twitter that italians brought bananas to somalia.

No wonder we have so many swahili and ethiopian hoteps taking and discrediting so much of our history.
isn’t most written somali history written in arabic

Yfull all it shows is relations to each other. Isaaq have T haplogroup Geri sample has an ancient E haplogroup doesn’t mean those clans that old. Somali and clans exist within Islam before Islam who knows what we worshiped and what we called ourselves. Look at some of the earliest abtiris names and clan founders it’s Islamic. No where in our clan tree is there non Muslims. So how can somali clans predate prophet Mohamed doesn’t make sense

We all are bini Adam and trace back to original 1 man, but somali identity is Muslim one that happened recently. 1325 is around 900 years ago cam belive clans and Islam wide spread then in horn couple hundred years after prophet death. 1400 years ago we existed but not as clans names today which all originate with sheiks and Islamic ancestors
Kkk You make things too complicated.
1300 years ago was roughly the time of the Umayyad Caliphate. Ummayad came after the Rashidun Caliphate. No doubt some Somalis were already Muslim in the midst of waaqist. And no doubt those earliest Muslims would become patriarchs of some of the major clans we see today.

The ancestor of T Dir/Isaaq’s is estimated to have lived 1600 years ago. Plus and minus that by 200-300 years for accuracy reasons and you have 1300- years ago for the clan’s patriarch date. This date falls within Islamic era. I am sure with more testing few other clans will have similar age.
