No harm. Its just that thats what my sources told me. Those who live in North America (Canada, US) have said that before, salaries were good and you could negotiate for better benefits, but now that isn't the case. Reason being REER Europe among others are willing to work for less, and companies then aren't going to offer substantial pay to those in NA (basically, they're making the same, or less). So many have opted to stay here.
Yes, sources. People who work in various fields in the ME have told me this. It has also been corroborated by many recruiters as well. And another thing, don't always believe what you read. The expected salary can go either up or down. Some companies will literally advertise one salary, then say that they'll hire you with a lower salary. Anyways, my point wasn't to bash any diaspora, but to say that going to the UAE to make lots of money is no longer on the table. Go for the lifestyle benefits.Sources hmmm. A university grad would never undersell themselves like that. Besides most jobs advertise the expected salary. No-one will say "I will take £4k less if you hire me."
Anybody been to Dubai here ? Are all the Somali people that live there fobs or do they look like Somalis in the west
Why are you putting us in the same sentence as filipinos and indians ?![]()
No I live here currently. From the states.
Yeah there is a lot but not how you would notice it in Minnesota if that makes sense.
Your forced to tolerate it. Hard to get used too. AC must be blasting at all times during the summer months. Also never thought I’d use sun screen till I got here.how do you tolerate the heat ?

I live in Dubai itself. Hbu?A fellow dubai person? Where do you live?
The money ain't what it used to be. Its a nice place (went there myself) and I'd live there but there's alot of gaajo now (i.e. the reer UK, indians and filipinos are willing to take any job at any salary just to work there). Go if you want to live there and say you work in "Dubai."

The irony that we would settle for less. Uk Somalis are more qualified than their North American counterparts.Sources hmmm. A university grad would never undersell themselves like that. Besides most jobs advertise the expected salary. No-one will say "I will take £4k less if you hire me."

UK vs North America beef.. This is gonna be good...I'm cheering for both my girls Basic & @Desert FlowerThe irony that we would settle for less. Uk Somalis are more qualified than their North American counterparts.
@Desert Flower your sources don’t sound reliable to say the least xx
The Americans/Canadians expect a higher salary in lets say a teacher or engineering position, and UK citizens tend to bring the salaries down. So most companies go with the cheaper western option. It's not what advertised, it's was negotiated in the interview process.Sources hmmm. A university grad would never undersell themselves like that. Besides most jobs advertise the expected salary. Qualified more in what way? Education or experience? The irony that we would settle for less. Uk Somalis are more qualified than their North American counterparts.

I don’t do online beef. I make my point and dipUK vs North America beef.. This is gonna be good...I'm cheering for both my girls Basic & @Desert Flower
Both. Education is more accessible here and a more established community means more mobility. The Americans/Canadians expect a higher salary in lets say a teacher or engineering position, and UK citizens tend to bring the salaries down. And there is this vibe in Dubai that UK citizens love living there more than anyone else.

Are you talking Somalis from UK and America? I'm talking Americans and British in general.Both. Education is more accessible here and a more established community means more mobility.
Well obviously I’m talking about Somalis since it’s Somalispot. Are you talking Somalis from UK and America? I'm talking Americans and British in general.
As for education being more accessible and a established community (don't know what you mean by that), that point is moot in this instance as the jobs people apply for here, you need to have a degree and some experience. So that would mean most people across all nationalities are qualified as its requirement to be so.
This. That’s exactly what I’m saying. You must be reer North America. The Americans/Canadians expect a higher salary in lets say a teacher or engineering position, and UK citizens tend to bring the salaries down.
