I would prefer my blood to look after my children and be the father figure in their life if i ever passed away then a stranger who may resent my children
Do you support this Dumaal shenanigans![]()
LooooooolIt's our culture, I'm sure somewhere down your family tree there's a dumaal
Disgusting
Forreal this a thing that happens?
This is like something straight out of a historical indigenous cultural account book that people read in awe of long ago medieval practices, like the Mayans with their turquoise teeth implants and blood practices, and the Egyptian elites with their sibling fuckery. And I thought cousin fucking you apparently appropriated from the Ayrabs (and I always associated with them) and "the best person ever to have lived" was bad, so where the hell did this bullshit originate from? Waaq times? 'Cuz it's definitely pre-Islam.![]()
Wtf man...my jaw is still dropped. What a weird notion. I can just imagine some chief or other in ancient times sending his brother off to some skirmish or other and then enstating this into law with the sole purpose of possessing his dead brother's wife.I know! Seems too outdated and ancient.

Where in Islam does it say this explicitly? I understand it's not one of the listed haram prospects in that one aya, all of which listed in the Quran are basically "duhs", immediate family members no sane person would even entertain sleeping with in the first place. I've honestly never heard of this being a thing 'til now, and it is absolutely not a necessity for a brother-in-law to take on his dead brother's wife in order for the tribal system to recognize and help it's widows and orphaned children, or for the family, including the in-laws, to help one of it's immediate members. That's where it started definitely but In Islam it is allowed to make your brother's wife a second wife or a wife inorder to protect her and provide for his kids. This makes perfect sense and I get why it's necessary. Im sure even many of my grandparents did this But it's 2016 now and we don't live in Somalia, widows don't need protection and brothers don't die easily, most of them grow old with their wives and children.
The mindset has changed and some of us consider being interested in your brother's wife when he's dead even worse than when he's alive. No matter how attractive she its a big NOPE.
People still practice it and I don't care about what they do with their lives... you know how consent and mind-your-own-business works. but it's gonna be a definite+
from me on this topic

The justifications are pure nonsense and transparent, it's all too obvious.
How prevalent is this?

There is no honor among men.
Shutup. If you can't see it for what it is, you can't be helped.
Cadaan ismooday, ain't a damn thing wrong with dumaal, it safeguards the wealth and safety of the family from outsiders.

Go ahead and keep repeating this to yourself, maybe eventually u'll actually start to believe it: "Cadaan ismooday, ain't a damn thing wrong with dumaal, it safeguards the wealth and safety of the family from outsiders."
Fxcking bahal indeed.
No surprises here. It's not like I didn't know something was off with you.
Our beautiful culture will never die walaal, dumaal is indeed a noble act that must be continued until the Last Day. We must safeguard the honor and property of the tol at all cost
I would like nothing more than my brother raising my children as his own if god forbid tragedy strikes

Lmao. What value? When the 'value' you're fiercely upholding now is sleeping with your dead brother's wife, I can only imagine the other lovely values you hold dear.Off with me?
On the contrary, I wish to preserve our culture and heritage until the day He Who Holds My Life in His Hand calls mankind to judgement.
Surely there is something off with you if you wish to erase our values from the face of the earth.
